18 sep 2023 at 14:04

Digital Lockpicks (Digipick) - a tool you will need throughout the game for lockpicking and infiltrating hidden places. However, lockpicking may not always be successful, so your lockpicks will break, and you'll need new ones, preferably a whole set.

In this guide, you will learn about where to find or buy lockpicks in Starfield.

Why You Need Lockpicks

Lockpicks are consumable items that you will use to pick locks on chests, doors, and more. Typically, the most valuable and useful resources are hidden behind locked doors.

You won't be able to open all locks at the start of the game. They come in different levels of difficulty, so you'll need to increase your Security skill to unlock them.

Security Skill for Lockpicking

Security is one of the technical skills in Starfield. By increasing it, locked locks will become easier to pick, and the number of available automatic attempts will increase.

Where to Get Lockpicks

There are several main ways to obtain digital lockpicks:

  1. Search corpses. Each defeated enemy or NPC has loot that you can take, including lockpicks. They don't appear in every case but have a probability. Apart from lockpicks, you may also find medkits, resources, credits, etc.;
  2. Steal. For this, you'll need a skilled Theft skill. You can steal lockpicks from any NPCs, but try not to get caught to avoid spending time in jail;
  3. Scavenge in the world. Not only from corpses but also in various places: containers, cabinets, on tables, etc.;
  4. Craft at a workbench. You can make them at an outpost or in any major city in the world;
  5. Buy from traders. The cost of one lockpick is 35 credits. With the Commerce skill, the price will be lower.
