How to get and use Boost Pack in Starfield

Boost Pack – it's the same as a jetpack. It's a convenient and fast way to move around, which you can use while exploring the planet and even in combat.

Some players have encountered issues with activating and using the jetpack, so in this guide, we will provide more details about it.

Where to Find the Jetpack

Right at the start of the game, the jetpack will be unavailable. To obtain it, you need to complete the very first story mission, "One Small Step". Essentially, this is a tutorial that introduces you to the basic mechanics and gameplay of the game.

After completing the quest, you will receive the Constellation Pack from the Constellation faction. As a reward, you'll get your first jetpack.

Alternatively, you can loot a jetpack from enemy mobs by inspecting their bodies. The loot is random, so you might not get a jetpack on the first try.

How to Use the Jetpack

To fully use the jetpack, you need to unlock a special skill called Boost Pack Training. This skill is available at the start of the game for two backgrounds: "Bounty Hunter" and "Soldier." By choosing these backgrounds, you can immediately use the jetpack.

  • On Xbox – press the Y button.

You don't have to intentionally level up the skill. If you use the jetpack regularly, your level will increase automatically. However, for basic mobility, having level 1 is sufficient.

How to Upgrade the Jetpack

There are several main ways to upgrade it:

  • Simply replace the jetpack with a new one found in the open world – from mobs, locations, storage, etc.;
  • Use the Spacesuit Workbench for upgrading the spacesuit.

You can find the workbench at the Constellation base or build it on your own outpost. Interact with the workbench to access upgrade slots. In the "Boost Pack" section, you can see all your jetpacks and available modifications.
