Guide to all quests from the United Colonies

2 oct 2023 at 11:21

United Colonies - the first interstellar government, a central republic, and one of the playable factions the main character can join. The capital of the Colonies is New Atlantic, and it controls the Wolf, Solar, and Alpha Centauri systems. This makes the United Colonies the largest and most influential faction in the world of Starfield.

The main character can become a part of this alliance, complete side quests, and receive additional useful rewards from the faction. We will tell you how to complete each task and what you will get for it.

How to Start the Quest Chain from the United Colonies

The Colonies are one of the first factions you can start collaborating with (excluding Constellation, which the hero joins by default). To start the quest chain, head to the planet Jemison in New Atlantic.

From the landing site, proceed to the main building - the office of the United Colonies. In the first rooms, you will meet Sergeant Yumi. The first task begins here.

There is an alternative way - commit any crime within the territory of the United Colonies. We have previously noted which systems and planets are part of it. Membership in the Colonies will be displayed on the map during movements.

A crime can be pickpocketing, attempted murder, etc. If you are caught by security, you will be offered to serve society instead of going to jail and join the Colonies. If you refuse, you can return to the tasks later, but this time you will have to serve the required term.

All United Colonies Quests

Keeping The Peace

"Keeping The Peace" - a conditional starting quest with which you will begin your acquaintance with the Colonies. In fact, this is not a full mission but an introduction to it.

Talk to Sergeant Yumi and share that you are looking for work. Yumi will mention that the Colonies lack active members, and you could be an excellent candidate.

Next, Yumi will conduct a detailed interview and ask the player several questions. The answers will not play a significant role - the quest will end automatically, and you can start the first full-fledged quests.

Supra El Utra

Immediately after the previous quest, go to the tallest building, which will be hard to miss - the MAST Tower. At the main counter with the faction's name will be Commander John Tuala, with whom you will interact frequently in the future. Tuala is responsible for recruiting and training newcomers.

Talk to the commander and learn more about the Colonies' activities. He will also talk about citizenship, which you need to obtain. Your next task is to undergo flight training in the simulator. Accept the commander's offer and take the elevator nearby.

On your way to the exam area, you will pass the Orientation Hall. Stay here if you want to learn about Earth's fate, the distribution of power in the world of Starfield, the positions of other factions, and the wars.

Go to the examination room and start the test. You will need to test your piloting skills and repel at least 3 enemy waves. The strength of the enemies will increase with each level. Destroy the shields with laser weapons, then finish off the ship with ballistic weapons. You can lose some waves - it's not a problem.

Exit the simulation and return to the commander. Tuala will praise your achievements and happily sum up how many years you will need to obtain citizenship. If you managed to defeat all enemies, citizenship will take 3 years, and if you survived only 3 waves, it will be 10 years. It sounds not very promising, but in reality, if you complete the entire quest chain, you can obtain citizenship without a ten-year wait.

Tuala will ask you to pledge allegiance to the United Colonies to officially initiate you into the faction. At this point, the quest will end, and access to the first real mission will be unlocked.

Grunt Work

Head to the airport in the same New Atlantic. You can reach it by train.

Upon arrival, talk to the coordinator and crew chief Kane Herath. He will brief you on the situation and provide all the necessary resources for the task. Your goal is the planet Tau Ceti II. Before leaving, have a chat with Kane, who will tell you more about the planet.

Head to the planet in the system with the same name and dock at the only available location (if you haven't visited the planet before) – the Production Center. Land and talk to Adrian. She'll tell you about the monster called the Ferrothorn that's causing trouble for all settlers. Your task is to deal with it.

Proceed to the adjacent building and reboot the security system. To lure the monster and kill it, set the frequency to 183.5. Another monster, a Terrormorph, will appear right next to you.

You have two options: fight the creature or activate three turrets to avoid a fierce battle. The monster has a lot of health, so it's recommended to use powerful ranged weapons and freezing mines to neutralize it and avoid its attacks.

After the victory, return to Adrian. She will thank you for your help and tell you that a sample of the creature's tissue needs to be sent for research. She will give you the next lead – Dr. Percival Walker, to whom you need to deliver the sample.

Delivering Devils

Head to the specified coordinates in the Trade Management on the planet Mars in the underground city of Cydonia. There, find and talk to the NPC Oktai Enbayar. He will point you in the direction of the doctor.

Take the elevator down to level P2, where you'll find the "Sixth Circle" bar. Approach and talk to the bartender Lou.

He will tell you that he won't give away information for free, and that Dr. Percival has quite a debt – 21,867 credits. There are three options here:

  • Talk to the bartender and agree to pay the debt.
  • Negotiate with the bartender and reduce the amount.
  • Convince Lou that you are a part of the United Colonies to avoid paying the debt.

If you successfully answer Lou's two questions about the Colonies' motto and your score on the entrance exam, the bartender will reveal that Percival is in conflict with Trade Management.

Another way to pay off Percival's debt is to go to the Deep Mines and eliminate the leader of the Spacer gang. To receive this small quest, talk to Cambridge Cooper.

Regardless of the path you choose, return to Oktai and report the information you obtained. The debt will be forgiven, and the bartender will provide you with a keycard for access to Percival's hideout. After talking to the doctor, the mission will be completed.

Eyewitness

Adrian, whom you met earlier, will suggest reporting the Terrormorph invasion to the United Colonies council. During the conversation, Adrian will share a secret about her identity, so don't rush through the dialogue with her.

Afterward, head to the United Colonies council. Go to the elevator and select the floor: "Cabinet Chambers". Go up to the floor, enter the cabinet of ministers, and report on the situation. The dialogue options won't affect the quest's progress.

Your conversation will be interrupted by an attack from the monsters. Naturally, the main character will have to deal with them. Prepare for the battle as there will be many enemies. Stock up on food, medkits, and ammunition. Adrian will assist you throughout the battle.

After the battle, talk to Sergeant Yumi and report everything that happened. In the Cabinet Chambers, you'll find President Alexandra Abello, who will thank you for your heroism and emphasize the importance of continuing to fight the Terrormorphs.

Friends Like These

After completing the previous quest, don't go too far. If you've already left, simply return to the MAST building. Go to the adjacent room from the cabinet of ministers – the Interstellar Affairs hotel, and talk to Deputy Sheriff Elisabeth Macintyre. She will provide the main character with a key card to access the secret archive with information about the monsters, which you'll need for the battle.

In the building next to MAST, talk to Ambassador Radcliffe from the Freestar Collective.

She won't grant access to the archive without a reason. You have several options:

  • The Path of Persuasion. Engage in an open dialogue and, with the help of a developed persuasion skill, convince Radcliffe to let you into the archive. To succeed, you need to score 8 persuasion points.
  • Stealth. Secretly enter the ambassador's room through the ventilation. There, you'll find Radcliffe's records, which you can later use to blackmail her and force her to take you to the archive.

The best option with no consequences is Persuasion.

Next, head to the Embassy of House Va'ruun. Get inside, restore the power, and deal with groups of robots. You'll be greeted by Ambassador Bal'mor, who will thank you for your help and provide the second part of the code.

Macintyre will give you the last part of the code. To meet with the deputy, return to the MAST building. After the conversation with Macintyre, go to the Armistice Archive and use each part of the code to access the storage.

Once inside, proceed to Cell 18. After obtaining the necessary information, return to MAST and talk to Macintyre and Adrian. For your achievements, the deputy will offer you an identity card and a civil assistance of 5,000 credits. After that, Macintyre will immediately redirect you to the next target, and a new quest will begin.

The Devils You Know

This mission will be another step towards obtaining information about the Terramorphs and can be considered a side mission.

In the same building, go down one floor and talk to the prisoner François Sanon. You need to find Reginald Orlase. Head to The Den station and engage in combat with the enemy.

After disabling the ship, board Reginald's ship - he will end his life by suicide. After this, retrieve the key card. Return to Sanon and provide him with the obtained data.

War Relic

Your next target is the Red Devils Headquarters. Go to Mars to meet with Adrian. Talk to her. She will tell you that you need to find Kaiser.

Go to the Narion system to the planet Niira. Find Gel and talk to him to learn about Kaiser's whereabouts. Gel will ask for payment for the information, but you can negotiate the price if you have a sufficient Persuasion skill. After this, Kaiser's location will appear on your map. Follow the marker.

When you encounter Kaiser's robot, it turns out that he is surrounded by aliens. Deal with them. Then, you need to reboot Kaiser using a battery, which you can either purchase for 11,784 credits or craft yourself. Kaiser will tell you where to craft the component.

Escort Kaiser back to Gel. Along the way, deal with hostile mobs until you return to the Red Devils Headquarters. After this, the quest will be completed.

Hostile Intelligence

Before starting the next quest, stock up on ammunition and medical supplies.

Speak with Adrian again. She will suggest another way to deal with the Terramorphs - other creatures that can fight them. Your task is to find their samples. Head to the planet Toliman II.

Upon arrival on the planet, monsters and enemy mobs will attack you immediately. Proceed forward until you reach a laboratory. Following the quest, you will find containers with the required samples. Deliver them to Kaiser.

Afterward, a Terramorph will suddenly appear nearby. Report this to Adrian and defeat the monster. Leave the dangerous place with Kaiser. At the exit, you will encounter the last, strongest Terramorph. Return to base to complete the quest.

A Legacy Forged

"A Legacy Forged" is the final mission in the questline. You will have to determine the fate of Vae Victis, Adrian's father, and decide whether to take his life or spare it. You will also need to choose how to eliminate the Terramorph threat.

You've learned that Vae Victus is connected to the Lazarus Plant and is involved with the Terramorphs. He used the plant's pollen to spread the monster population beyond the laboratory.

You will make the final decision at the council of ministers. You can choose one of the following actions:

  • Tell Adrian the truth about her father and his involvement with the Terramorphs.
  • Keep the truth hidden from the council.
  • Reveal the truth about Sanon.

If you expose Victus, he will be executed, but if you spare his life, you will gain access to the next quest, "Preventive Action." Regardless of your choice, the United Colonies questline will be completed.

For your exceptional contributions, along with Adrian and Percival, you will become first-class citizens of the United Colonies.
