All Companions in Starfield: New Features, List
There are only a few months left until the highly anticipated Starfield release. Recently, it was revealed that the game will have a comprehensive companion system, as in other projects by the studio: The Elder Scrolls, Fallout. Companions play an important role not only in combat scenes but also in other situations. For instance, in Fallout 4, companions have their own character, and if your actions do not match the companion's character - sooner or later he will leave you. Moreover, traveling with companions is simply more interesting because they react to different events and prevent boredom. In this article, we will understand the features of companions in Starfield and who can be included in the squad.
The importance of companions in Starfield: new opportunities
In Starfield, unlike previous Bethesda games, companions will take on a more significant role. This was more or less realized in Fallout 4, where companions participated in some dialogues, had their own character, and even had their own tasks. In Starfield, this system is significantly improved, and there will be many interesting moments associated with companions. They will not behave like regular "damage sponges", but will become full-fledged living characters with their own opinions, phrases, reactions to what is happening.
Meet Starfield Companions
Vasco
The first companion to be announced for Starfield was a robot named Vasco. However, the game is expected to introduce even more companions, and we will learn more about them closer to the release. Vasco is part of Constellation, one of the main factions in Starfield. This is an early model, created by Lunar Robotics, which was upgraded to perform the tasks of the Constellation mission. This is a labor robot, adapted to the harsh conditions of space travel, with defensive capabilities in case of necessity. But his main role is peaceful.
Vasco will be a versatile assistant, carrying your equipment and playing a limited role in combat.
Adoring Fan
In the published frames of Starfield, hints were found of a possible second companion — the Adoring Fan. This character is a reference to The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion, and his task is to either annoy you or give gifts.
Sarah Morgan
A former soldier who retired. During the storyline, the girl will help the protagonist in the search for space artifacts, after which she can be taken into the squad.
She will become the protagonist's first companion. Her skills list:
- Astronomy (4);
- Lasers (3);
- Leadership (2);
- Botany (1).
Sam Coe
Farmer Sam (Sam Coe) is another companion. He's dressed like a typical cowboy and behaves accordingly. He proves to be a real professional in piloting and has a set of useful skills that will come in handy at the most dangerous moments.
- Piloting (4);
- Rifle Certification (3);
- Useful Payload (Computing) (2);
- Geology (1).
Barrett
One of the protagonist's first companions. Barrett is encountered after finding the first artifact. He belongs to the Constellation faction. Skills:
- Spaceship Engineering (rank 4)
- Particle Beam-Based Weapon Systems (rank 3)
- Robotics (rank 2)
- Gastronomy (rank 1)
Companion's work in Starfield
Different companions will suit different playstyles. Since each of them has its own character, it is important to make the right decisions to avoid disagreements and quarrels between the characters. All companions, including Vasco, will be able to carry game equipment and assist in battles. Each of them will be unique, but all will be able to perform tasks related to the game. They will act as crew members of your ship and affect your base on the planet. Many gameplay features are associated with them, and companions will play a very important role in the progression.
