The best control scheme for Friday Night Funkin': gamepad settings, mat, and more
You have the option to use a keyboard, controller, or even a dance pad, whether you're playing FNF in your browser or through the downloaded version.
In this guide, we will explain how to connect and configure these devices and customize the keyboard to your liking. Let's get started!
How to Set Up a Controller and Dance Pad for Friday Night Funkin
Your character, called Boyfriend, must defeat all opponents with his amazing singing to, let's say, "spend some quality time" with his girlfriend. To do this, you need to press the correct notes as they move from the bottom of the screen to the top.
There are several ways to do this. After launching the game in your browser on itch.io, Newgrounds, or through the installed version, you will be greeted by the main menu. You will be prompted to press enter, but if you already have a controller connected, you can simply press Start and jam using the joystick. That's all, you don't need to do anything else!
If you have a DDR dance pad compatible with your PC, it's the same - the game will automatically recognize the pad if it's connected.
How to Configure Controls in Friday Night Funkin
The default keyboard controls in FNF work perfectly fine, but you can customize them individually if you're playing the downloaded version or in the browser on Newgrounds. As an alternative, you can use the method described in this article.
Which is the Best Way to Play Friday Night Funkin
We didn't have a DDR dance pad for testing, but it seems to be the best way to play if you want to combine fun and exercise. Between the keyboard and controller controls, we found that the latter is the most effective.
The game ramps up and becomes incredibly challenging quite quickly; notes will come at a fast pace, and you'll need to react very quickly. Rocking your thumb on the Xbox controller's D-Pad makes it much easier to stay in rhythm, even when it seems impossible.
