How to get rid of overload in Starfield
Inventory Overload is a quite serious issue which makes it harder to explore the world, consumes oxygen faster and even affects health. The more you are overloaded, the stronger the negative effects.
Ways to Free Up Inventory
How you can free up inventory in Starfield:
- Sell some items to traders found in every space city;
- Throw away or destroy items;
- Modify equipment to reduce its weight;
- Upgrade the "Weight Lifting" skill which increases the carrying capacity of the main character;
- Transfer some of the inventory to the ship's storage - we covered this method in a separate guide;
- Recraft some resources.
It's wise to discard only cheap and commonly found resources scattered throughout the game world. You might have collected a lot of them at the start of the game unknowingly.
Another matter is when we talk about important resources, like armor or weapons – by the way, the heaviest. The best option: sell to traders or equip them.
How to Avoid Overload
Tips to ease your journey:
- Always try to offload your inventory before starting a new mission or exploring a planet;
- Don't pick up "junk" resources and keep only the most valuable, or immediately recraft them;
- Create additional storage containers on your ship;
- Sell some items every time you're near a shop;
- Discard some items in a safe place, like a cabin on the ship, to pick up and use them later.
How to Upgrade the Carrying Capacity Skill
The "Weight Lifting" skill is available from the start of the game and is classified under physical skills. It's the most effective way to make your character stronger and more resilient.
