Starfield Ships: Upgrades, Customization, Parts, Attributes, and Features
Spacecraft in Starfield play a crucial role in the gameplay. As the game allows for planetary travel, players have access to their own customizable spacecraft with various upgrades and it is crucial to know how to upgrade ship in Starfield. Not only can the appearance be changed, but also different attributes can be improved in various ways. This way, players have the opportunity to upgrade not only their main character but also their spacecraft. In this article, we will explore what the spacecraft is, its attributes, the ways to interact with and upgrade the player's spacecraft.
Customization of Spacecraft in Starfield
Available Components
The Starfield ships can be customized in various ways by altering specific components. The spacecraft consists of a large number of diverse parts, some of which can be customized to change the appearance and enhance the spacecraft's attributes.
- Shield Generator. As the name suggests, this component provides the spacecraft's defense. To destroy a spacecraft, the shield must be penetrated first, and its durability directly depends on this component.
- Engine. An important component that directly affects the spacecraft's power. The stronger the engine, the greater the distances the spacecraft can travel in a shorter amount of time. This component also affects the spacecraft's maneuverability.
- Storage. The place where all the character's belongings are kept. This part determines how much weight the spacecraft can carry (maximum carrying capacity).
- Pilot's Cabin. It's self-explanatory; this is where the player controls the spacecraft.
- Weapons. Different types of weapons can be installed to destroy enemies. The damage dealt by the weapons directly depends on the spacecraft's attributes.
- Fuel Tank. This component determines how much fuel the spacecraft can hold. Consequently, this part affects the spacecraft's potential flight range. The larger the fuel tank, the longer the spacecraft can fly without stops.
- Reactor. An important part that, alongside the engine, is responsible for the spacecraft's power.
- Docker. Allows docking with other spacecraft.
- Landing Modules.
- Living Quarters. A spacecraft is a quite large place. It's not just a means of transportation but also a true home and base with its own living quarters for the player character and allies.
- Gravitational Engines. Regular engines and reactors are used for ordinary flights, but if you need to jump to another star system, you can't do without gravitational engines. The better these engines, the greater distances the spacecraft can cover.
The above-mentioned components are the main ones but not the only ones that can be upgraded in the player's spacecraft.
Requirements for Customization
Customizing spacecraft can be likened to upgrading settlements in Fallout 4. Many functions will be available from the first moments, while obtaining certain upgrades may require effort and unlocking specific skills. Whether you can install a particular upgrade will depend on the skills you have.
Attributes of Spacecraft in Starfield
Similar to the main character, spacecraft have their own attributes that can be upgraded to determine the playstyle. The attributes allow for increasing damage from different types of weapons (depending on your preferences), improving speed, health points of the spacecraft, maximum carrying capacity, and more.
- LAS, BAL, MSL. These parameters are responsible for damage dealt by laser, ballistic, and missile weapons, respectively.
- HULL. This parameter directly determines the spacecraft's number of hit points. The higher this parameter, the more damage the spacecraft can withstand.
- Shield. Determines the strength of the spacecraft's shield. The stronger the shield, the more damage it can absorb.
- Crew. This parameter determines how many NPCs will be part of the spacecraft's crew.
- Cargo. Determines the maximum carrying weight.
- Jump Range. This parameter defines the distance (number of jumps) the spacecraft can make before refueling is necessary.
- Mobility. Determines the spacecraft's maneuverability.
- Top Speed. As the name suggests, this attribute determines the maximum speed.
- Mass. The spacecraft's weight, affecting speed, maneuverability, and other attributes.
How to Customize/Upgrade a Spacecraft in Starfield
As soon as the player gains the ability for free movement in the story, they can find special technicians in the game world who specialize in spacecraft customization. Players can upgrade their spacecraft and acquire various improvements from them.
