Iron (Ferum) in Starfield is a fundamental resource found on many planets. It's used across various industries, making it crucial to know where and how to obtain this material. In this guide, we'll explore where you can find iron in Starfield and how to acquire it.

How to Obtain Iron in Starfield

Similar to many other materials, iron can be obtained using a special tool called a Cutter. While it can be used as a weapon, its primary function is extracting materials from deposits. Simply approach iron deposits, aim, and start cutting with the tool. The material will be automatically harvested.

Where to Farm Iron in Starfield

The method of extraction is relatively straightforward. But where can you find iron? On which planets are deposits located? To find out, open the map, select a planet, and check the "Resources" section. If it says "Fe," the planet contains iron deposits. Let's consider a few planets where you can find this material. The first among them is Kreet, the planet featured in the gameplay video "Starfield: Official Gameplay Reveal."

Another excellent farming location is the first planet in the Porrima galaxy - Porrima I. This planet is rich not only in iron but also in helium and other useful materials.

In the same Porrima system, there's another planet where you can obtain iron - Porrima IV-c. Technically, it's not a planet but a full-fledged moon where you can find many valuable resources.

If you reach the Tau Ceti system, you can discover the planet Tau Ceti VIII-b. Here, alongside other valuable resources, you can find and obtain iron in significant quantities.

Remember, Starfield features over 1000 diverse planets, and some can be added through mods. The mentioned planets provide good farming spots, but they're not the only places to acquire iron (Fe) in Starfield.
