How to sell weapons, equipment and items in Starfield
You can sell part of your inventory, for example, if you want to free up space, earn additional credits, or simply get rid of unnecessary items. You can do this with traders throughout the game world, but there are a couple of nuances and features we will discuss in this guide.
Where to Sell Items
You can sell items and resources at a vending machine or directly to a trader. You will find a vending machine guaranteed in New Atlantis. You can check the full list of shops on Directory Boards in any city.
Alternatively, find the Trade Authority in The Well. Interact with the trader, click on: "Sell" > "Sell from Inventory," and select the items you want to sell.
Types of shops in The Well:
- Med Bay – medical kits and medicines;
- Kay's Apartment – food and drinks;
- Apex Electronics – an electronics store;
- Trade Authority – a general store;
- U.C. Surplus – weapons and equipment.
Selling Item Limits – What to Do?
Keep in mind that traders have a credit limit. In other words, you cannot sell items for a greater sum than the trader has. There are two solutions to this problem:
- Find a new trader;
- Install a mod to remove credit limits from traders;
- Wait for 48 in-game hours for the limits to reset.
How to Sell Contraband
Contraband is a special type of item that you can find throughout the world. We have detailed information about this mechanic in a separate guide.
The essence is that selling contraband is a risky but profitable business. As soon as you bring illegal goods on board your ship, you are at risk. Every time you enter a planet's orbit, the ship will be scanned by a special scanner. The only way to hide contraband is to use jammers and install shielded cargo space.
Furthermore, not all sellers are willing to deal with contraband. You need to find special traders working in the Trade Authority. Keep in mind that vending machines will categorically not accept contraband.
