In Starfield, just like in previous Bethesda games, there are various factions that players will have to interact with during the course of the game. Some of these factions are initially hostile, some compete (or even wage wars) against each other, and some players can even join, altering the course of the story. In this article, we will explore all the major and minor factions in Starfield: what they do and what goals they pursue. 

All Major Factions in Starfield

Constellation

Perhaps most frequently, players will interact with this faction. Players encounter the members of the "Constellation" faction at the very beginning of the game, and throughout the game, they will interact with them many times. Members of this mysterious faction travel to various planets, exploring space in search of answers to humanity's most important questions. Their headquarters is located in the city of New Atlantis. 

The leader is Sarah Morgan, one of the possible companions and crew members of the protagonist. Some other potential companions also belong to this faction. 

Crimson Fleet

A criminal organization engaged in space piracy. Members of this organization are dangerous criminals who don't mind shedding innocent blood to earn credits. 

The protagonist can join the ranks of this criminal organization, perform various tasks for them, or work as an informant. Hostile members of the Crimson Fleet, such as the mini-boss named Brogan, will be encountered frequently in the open world. 

Freestar Collective

An organization that plays a significant role in Starfield. They value freedom and are willing to defend it at the cost of their own lives. One of the main cities in Starfield, Akila City, is under their protection. The headquarters are located in the same city. The protagonist can join their ranks. 

Ryujin Corporation

A mega-corporation located in the city of Neon. They actively spread their influence and offer unique quests with unique rewards. They are one of the factions the player can join.

United Colonies

The largest and most powerful faction in Starfield, both militarily and politically. United Colonies is a leading faction that controls many cities and locations. They offer main and side quests, completing which players can earn unique rewards and the favor of the faction members. The protagonist can become a member of this faction.

Xenofresh Corporation

Another mega-corporation that founded the city of Neon. They don't mind bending the law, and their wealth comes from creating and selling narcotics. In the game, players have the option to join this mega-corporation and become part of the drug empire.

Minor Factions in Starfield

In addition to the major factions that players can join, there are also additional factions in the game. These factions play a less significant role in the overall story, but they are associated with many interesting moments.

Below is a list of minor factions in Starfield:

• Ecliptic Mercenaries: A faction of heavily armed mercenaries. In other words, a powerful mercenary army.
• Enlightened: A religious organization. The only way to join their ranks is by selecting the trait "Raised Enlightened." 
• House of Va'ruun: A group of religious fanatics.
• Sanctum Universum: Another religious organization that can only be joined by choosing the trait "Raised Enlightened." 
• Spacers: A group of bandits similar to raiders in Fallout 4.
