The Red Meanie is a hostile entity that resides around the Fortress of Meropide. In appearance, it resembles a red tuber plant, but it's far from harmless as it can regenerate and, as mentioned briefly, attack the player when approached. In this article, we will analyze the most effective ways to defeat the Red Meanies and discuss each puzzle associated with them.

How to Defeat the Red Meanie

The main challenge in dealing with the underwater menace is their clustering. In ninety percent of cases, you will encounter a group of Red Meanies, not a single individual, and here lies the problem: if you don't destroy all the plants almost simultaneously, they will respawn. In this situation, the stolen ability of the Xenochromatic Jellyfish comes to your aid - the skill that spawns a bomb explosion in an area (Xenochromatic Creature). In case of an encounter, you have several options for a favorable outcome: 

1. All Red Meanies are in one place - you throw a bomb at the center, affecting them all with the explosion at once;
2. One Red Meanie is isolated from the group - by using the skill, you throw a bomb at the group, eliminate the lone Red Meanie with a regular attack, and simultaneously detonate the thrown projectile with a second press of 'E'.

Where to Find the Red Meanie

You can see the location of all creatures on the attached map. Below, we will break down the most challenging locations separately.

Red Meanies in the Pipe

The entrance to the pipe is located opposite the teleportation point. Swimming inside, you will discover three Red Meanies and a mechanism. Use the Xenochromatic Jellyfish skill to explode two of them, and then, finish off the last one near the device with a regular attack. After that, a Pneuma Block will appear, and you can proceed with the Stabilizer Puzzle (earning a rich chest for it).

Red Meanies Near the Archon Statue in Liffey Region

If this puzzle is untouched for you, you will encounter a blocked crystal and a cracked wall ahead. Use the same bomb to destroy the last one - the blockage will fall, and the crystal will become vulnerable to attacks. We recommend doing just that since a regular attack on the crystal will open the gate.

Afterward, swim inside and, while in the passage, throw the bomb at the crystal. You will be temporarily trapped in the ruins, raising the inner gate with two Red Meanies. The same scheme applies - eliminate one with a regular attack and the other with a bomb.

As a reward, you will receive a Precious chest and your freedom.

Five Red Meanies and One Rich Chest

This puzzle poses a problem because the explosion area often isn't sufficient to destroy all the Red Meanies simultaneously. Apply the previously learned method - if someone remains untouched, remotely detonate the bomb along with using a regular attack on the untouched monster.

Red Meanies at the Ruins

To the southwest of the Central Laboratory Ruins location, you can find four Red Meanies. Dealing with them is similar to the previous one. The universal method of destruction is throwing a little bomb at the chest and individually dealing with the one on the column.

Five more of such individuals will cross your path when meeting the conditions for obtaining the hidden achievement "The Red Meanies' Revenge." Seeking vengeance by eradicating all five Red Meanies in a specific area - Bravais' Press Works - will reward you with 5 Primogems.
