Things Done Changed: how to start and complete the quest
Things Done Changed is a quest epilogue where you'll learn about V's fate after he agreed to the chip removal surgery.
How to get the "Things Done Changed" quest
To gain access to the quest, meet the following requirements:
- In the quest Firestarter, side with Solomon Reed and refuse to help Songbird;
- In the quest Somewhat Damaged, refuse to kill Songbird and hand her over to Solomon;
- In the quest "Quiet Life" (Who Wants to Live Forever), call Reed.
Things Done Changed: walkthrough
After this, V will undergo the chip removal surgery. This will lead to the final removal of Johnny Silverhand's personality. Before the surgery, the man will deliver a heartfelt speech and hint at the bond he felt with V:
"Well, my story is coming to an end, and it won't be a bullet but a scalpel that puts a period to it. I'll die so you can live."
"Honestly, V, I suspected from the very beginning that it would end like this. After all, it's your body and your future. I don't know what will happen to you when I'm gone, but I want to give you the last valuable advice in my life: no matter what happens, however you feel, always remain yourself and only yourself."
You'll also learn the main character's real name (depending on the chosen gender).
Speak with Reed
The operation will be performed. V wakes up two years later, and the first person he sees is Solomon Reed.
The chip removal was successful, but there's another problem - V can no longer use implants. This means he now faces a life of an ordinary person, without abilities and exceptional skills. He can no longer be a mercenary and is forced to live a normal life, free from adventures and dangers.
Call friends (optional)
V will be lost, and he'll be offered the following course of action:
"Maybe someone is still waiting for your return. Try calling friends, acquaintances, or even former partners. Then go to Night-City. There you'll start a new life... or reclaim what's left of the old one."
V can contact old acquaintances to find out how things have changed over the two years.
Meet and talk with Viktor
Leave the building and take a taxi to Night-City. Visit the clinic and speak with Viktor Vektor. He'll confirm that there's no way to restore V to his previous life.
After the conversation ends, a couple of criminals will attack you outside. You won't be able to fend them off due to the lack of implants, but you'll be saved by Misty (Misty Olszewski).
In the end, all that's left for V is to accept his fate and get used to his new life. After all, he's still alive and no longer faces a slow death.
