In this guide, we will tell you about all the biomes in the game Valheim, namely: their features, creatures, bosses, and resources in each area. Let's get started!

Biomes are a permanent feature in the world of Valheim, which are unlikely to change significantly with subsequent patches. It is important to remember the basic characteristics of each location, which will make playing easier.

It is important to understand and know what specific resources are available on each map. Each biome holds a mystery, but one thing is certain - they all differ and carry certain value for the hero.

Meadows

Meadows are the first map that opens up to the hero. In the biome, you will encounter rare forests. This map consists of 90% low grass. Occasionally, rivers and beaches near small oceans may appear along the way.

In the meadows, you can find a large number of useful materials: wood, stones, flint, mushrooms, and raspberries. The first resources in the list are the most essential for building structures at the base. Mushrooms and raspberries can satisfy the hero's hunger, and flint is used to make the first tools and defenses.

The biome is 100% safe; there are practically no threats here. Lizards and boars are often seen around the map.

The biome has Greydwarves and Greylings, but they are not a serious threat, even for beginners.

Black Forest

Often, the forest is located near the Meadows. It has distinct characteristics: dense black grass and a large number of trees. The entrances to the Dungeons are located in this biome.

This map is abundant with useful resources for the player (copper and tin, which are usually found near trees).

You can find surtling cores here, which are needed to create better equipment.

This biome is significantly more dangerous than it may seem. The Black Forest is inhabited by a large number of monsters that can cause serious damage to you.

While walking through the map, you may encounter Greydwarves and their higher-level counterparts. As soon as you decide to venture into the dungeons, be prepared to face a barrage of skeletons. There is also a chance of running into trolls, which are very dangerous opponents.

Swamp

This biome is represented on the map by dark brown patches. Another possible location variant is in proximity to the Black Forest. In reality, the most valuable resource in the swamp is iron. The only problem is that it is found in sunken crypts where danger lurks at every step.

In this area, there are aggressive creatures that pose a threat to the hero. The biome is inhabited by poisonous leeches and blobs that can quickly poison the hero. Also, do not forget that there are draugrs on the map that deal significant damage to the character.

Mountains

This area shares its place with the Black Forest. It is a highly snowy and cold region that makes the hero freeze. You can keep warm by consuming mead and wearing warm clothing.

To obtain warm clothing, you need to kill a couple of wolves that inhabit the area. Remember that there are dragons on the map that can catch you off guard.

The mountains have a significant amount of silver, which is useful for the Viking's further development. You will also encounter the boss Moder in this biome.

Meadows

The entire area consists of dry grass, hills, and small rocks.

What dangers await you? The biome is home to goblins, necks, mosquitoes, and the boss Eikthyr. He is a very powerful opponent, and an unprepared hero simply won't survive a battle with him. There are also Fulings' villages on this map, which are rich in valuable resources.

Ocean

This part of the map surrounds all the lands - the ocean washes over them. To navigate the waters, you will need water transport.

Do not relax in advance, as the ocean is teeming with dangers. You may encounter sea serpents, get caught in a storm, or fall victim to the wrath of the Kraken.

Mistlands

This biome is in the testing phase but visually resembles the Black Forest. The soil in this area is very dark, and all trees are covered in cobwebs.

At the moment, there are no dangerous bosses or special mobs in this area.

The Far North

This area is also under development and is located in the northernmost part of the map. Visually, it consists entirely of ice, and there is nothing here.

It is possible that wildlife will be introduced in the next patch.

Ashlands

Visually, this biome consists of a group of islands with an interesting red hue. The area is sparsely populated, and there are no significant resources available.
