How to turn off aging for Sims in The Sims 4

21 dec 2020 at 13:45

The Sims 4 is a game where we can live the lives of Sims as we please. You can play as anyone - create a professional gamer, an actor, a scientist, a programmer, a wizard, and many other options. However, the game features an aging system where characters grow older. There are several life stages:

  • Infant;
  • Child;
  • Teenager;
  • Youth;
  • Adult;
  • Elderly.

Depending on the life stage, characters unlock new gameplay opportunities, and each life stage has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, some people don't want their Sims to age. The developers have taken this into account and added the option to disable aging in the game. How to slow down Sims' aging:

  1. Open the game settings;
  2. Go to the "Gameplay" section;
  3. Find the "Sim Lifespan" section;
  4. Here, you can choose among 3 options: short, normal, and long. Naturally, select the long option if you want to significantly slow down Sims' aging.

In addition, you can completely disable aging. Pay attention to the tabs "Auto Age (playable characters)" and "Auto Age (non-playable characters)". If you uncheck the box next to auto-age, the characters will simply stop aging until you decide otherwise. It's simple and convenient. If you want your Sim to age, but the settings are disabled, simply buy (or make) a cake and select the appropriate function.

Life Span Settings in The Sims 4

As we mentioned earlier, you can choose among 3 life span settings: short, normal, and long. Let's consider the life span for each of these options. Short life span:

  • Infants age up in 1 day;
  • Children age up in 6 days;
  • Teens age up in 6 days;
  • Youth and adults age up in 10 days;
  • Elderly Sims no longer age, they simply await death.

Normal life span:

  • Infants age up in 2 days;
  • Children and teens age up in 13 days;
  • Youth and adults age up in 20 days;
  • Elderly Sims simply await death.

Long life span:

  • Infants age up in up to 8 days;
  • Children and teens age up in 52 days;
  • Youth and adults transition to the next stage after 80 days;
  • Elderly Sims simply await death.
