Artifact Skills are special abilities that cannot be chosen in the character creation editor or simply leveled up by performing specific actions. You can find them in Temples, which will unlock as you progress through the story quests. Artifacts possess supernatural powers that provide significant advantages and useful abilities.

In this guide, we will tell you about the locations of all the temples and all the available special skills you can obtain in Starfield.

How to Use Artifact Abilities in Starfield

You can use a special skill at any point in the game. To do this, press the X button. Using a skill consumes your Power meter, which is displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen.

The First Artifact

The very first unusual power, Anti-Gravity Field, is unlocked after completing the quest "Into The Unknown." The main character learns about the existence of artifacts, their purpose, and advantages. To unlock the "Into The Unknown" quest, complete the following tasks:

• "One Small Step"
• "The Old Neighborhood"

On average, this takes 1.5-3 hours of gameplay, depending on how intensively you follow the story.

How to Solve the Ring Puzzle

Land on the planet Procyon III. Use the scanner with the F key to locate the entrance to the temple. Interact with the door and enter inside.

You will enter a room with large rings where there is zero gravity. You need to fly through 4-6 rings within the given time to activate the temple's power.

How to Unlock More Abilities

Once you obtain the first artifact, a marker will appear indicating the location of the next one. The one giving you quests is NPC Vladimir. He will tell you about new artifacts and provide hints.

Here's when you'll receive each of the artifacts during which quest:

• Chi - "The Empty Nest" quest
• Yota and Zeta – "Into The Unknown" quest
• Nu - "All that Money Can Buy" quest
• Theta and Tau – "Further into the Unknown" quest
• Phi - "No Sudden Moves" quest

Note that you'll be able to open the Alpha, Beta, Chi, Yota, and Zeta temples only after completing the "Power from Beyond" quest.

• Personal Atmosphere – increases oxygen supply and reduces carbon dioxide accumulation.
• Gravity Wave – repels enemies in the skill's area of effect.

• Supernova – the power of a supernova attacks all enemies within the skill's area of effect.
• Elemental Pull – explodes inorganic resources within the skill's area of effect, allowing you to collect them more quickly.
• Gravity Well – pulls enemies within the skill's area of effect and crushes them.
• Grav Dash – temporarily increases damage dealt.
• Create Vacuum – target and deplete their oxygen supply.
• Phased Time – briefly slows down time.
• Eternal Harvest – replenishes organic resources (flora) that you have previously collected.
• Anti-Gravity Field – creates a low-gravity field that sends all enemies in the radius into the air.
