How to start and complete the Eye Of The Storm mission in Starfield
The "Eye of the Storm" mission is one of the most important plotlines in Starfield. The main character faces a crucial choice: to side with the United Colonies or the Crimson Fleet. This quest concludes a major conflict between the two factions. Your choice will determine which one vanishes from the world of Starfield forever.
How to Start the "Eye of the Storm" Mission
After completing the "Absolute Power" mission, head to New Atlantic and speak with Delgado. He will ask you to go to the planet Bannoc IV to retrieve an artifact. Jazz, who will be present during the conversation, will also ask you to install special upgrade modules on your ship, which will be needed for the next stage of the mission.
How to Install the Modules
To install the modules on your ship, follow these instructions:
- Without straying far from where you received the task, talk to Jazz;
- Select the response option: "Could you help me with my ship?" and go to the spaceship editor;
- Install two modules into the available slots: ComSpike Module and Conduction Grid Module.
You're done! The modules have been successfully installed. But don't rush to leave – talk a bit more with Delgado and explore different response options to learn more about the upcoming mission and the search for artifacts. This will provide additional hints for completing the mission.
Head to UC Vigilance
Follow the marker to the UC Vigilance space station. Dock with the station and talk to Commander Ikande, who will also ask you to bring him the artifact and, under no circumstances, give it to Delgado.
From here, the main conflict arises: whose side will you choose? Who will gain power and control over the artifact? You will have to decide this later, for now, head to Bannoc IV.
Fly to Bannoc IV
As soon as you approach the planet, huge meteoroids will appear directly in your path, threatening to damage and potentially destroy your ship. Try to maneuver between them and avoid being hit. Act quickly – the meteoroids will eventually destroy your ship due to the significant amount of damage they inflict. Afterward, dock your ship with the "Legacy" spaceship in the area marked on the map.
Find the Storage Management Center
Board the "Legacy" and proceed forward until you reach a dead end, following the marker. You'll come across an airlock that requires a Gallabank Data Transfer Module to open. You can find it by looting the nearest corpse. Unlock the door and proceed inside.
Continue further inside the ship to reach the Storage Management Center. Here, you have two options:
- Unlock the lock on the sealed door if you have a sufficient Security skill level;
- Enter the adjacent door and engage in combat with hostile robot mobs. You'll need a weapon that deals significant area damage.
Advance forward through one of the available options until you reach the storage room door. Use the nearest computer to open it and fend off another attack by robots.
Finally, after these actions, the damaged ship will start to detonate due to an electromagnetic wave strike. Leave the ship immediately, making your way to the exit.
How to Escape from the Legacy
The scanner will automatically show you the path to run. Simultaneously, use medkits and food to replenish your health and stamina (oxygen).
Whom to Choose: United Colonies or Crimson Fleet?
Once you escape from the Legacy and board your ship, you will need to choose: return to the UC Vigilance station or head to Delgado, thereby giving preference to either the Colonies or the Crimson Fleet. This choice will significantly impact the further storyline.
To be more objective, here's a comparative table of the two choices:
United Colonies |
Crimson Fleet |
Battle against the Crimson Fleet |
Battle against the United Colonies |
Attempt to persuade or kill Delgado |
Attempt to persuade or kill Ikande |
Access to the key is lost |
Access to the key is retained |
Reward: 250,000 credits + UC SysDef uniform |
Reward: 250,000 credits + continuation of the Crimson Fleet mission chain |
Most companions will approve of your choice |
Most companions will NOT approve of your choice |
The fate of the main characters will unfold as follows:
- Choose the United Colonies side: Delgado will either go to prison or be destroyed along with the entire Crimson Fleet by reactor explosion. Even if Delgado goes to prison, the Colonies will still capture the Crimson Fleet, closing access to the faction's missions;
- Choose the Crimson Fleet side: if you fail to negotiate with Ikande, he will destroy the Colonies' ship and everyone aboard, including his own crew. In any case, the United Colonies will cease to exist.
In simple terms, choosing the United Colonies side is suitable for those role-playing a good and positive main character. Choosing the Crimson Fleet side, one of the most ruthless factions in Starfield, is obviously not the most positive choice, especially for your companions.
In any case, always rely on your personal opinion and the role you are playing in Starfield.
