Mask (Маска) in Lethal Company is a mysterious new item from update 45, the proper use of which is hard to guess at the beginning of the game. It's literally an artifact that drives team members crazy and makes them obey its mysterious power.

How to Obtain the Mask

This item is not sold in the terminal. You can find it on moons while exploring locations. In the inventory, masks will be considered scrap metal that you can pick up and later sell at the terminal. Another use for the mask can be discovered practically by trying to put it on the character.

What the Mask is For

If a player finds the mask and decides to put it on, they will instantly die, and evil forces will take over their identity. The player's corpse will turn into Masked (Маскированный), who will roam the location under artificial intelligence control and try to kill the remaining players like a regular monster. Initially, comrades may not notice the substitution – that's the essence of using the mask.

In the game, there are two types of masks: tragedy and comedy. They differ visually: the first one looks sad, the second one smiles. The difference in the effect is negligible. You can calmly put on and take off the comedy mask – it won't absorb the player if you quickly remove the item from the face. But the tragedy mask acts instantly and kills the player with no chance of survival.

When the mask is activated, the player's screen turns red, the character's eyes light up red, and a death notification appears. Be careful if you don't want to experience this effect yourself!

Interesting fact: the tragedy mask is slightly more expensive when sold compared to the comedy mask.

Should You Use the Mask in the Game

Essentially, using masks has no practical purpose and benefit. You'll simply bring chaos to the game and scare team members. It's a great way to add variety to cooperative play and have some fun.

Removing the mask is impossible. If you kill the Masked, you can't return their corpse to the ship and revive them. Trying to teleport the turned team member will turn them back into Masked, and they will attack – it's quite dangerous. It's easier to leave the corpse on the moon and fly away. Keep in mind that for this action, leaving the corpse, you will receive a significant penalty from the Corporation.
