Thumper in Lethal Company: How to Defeat the Monster

13 jan 2024 at 15:29

Thumper in Lethal Company is a predatory and aggressive mob that you may encounter inside complexes. It's a fairly fast, hostile, and dangerous creature that can appear at any moment. Meeting Thumper in a small room or a narrow turn, where the player's movement is significantly restricted, is particularly dangerous. To prevent this from happening, you need to know how to escape from Thumper and whether it can be killed.

What Makes Thumper Dangerous

Visually, Thumper resembles a bodyless shark with limbs attached to its sides. It's a medium-sized creature with a wide mouth and sharp fangs. The creature lacks hind legs, but its front legs are very agile and powerful. It uses them to grab and kill an unsuspecting Employee. Thumper moves by crawling and can follow a player on stairs.

The main danger of Thumper is its speed. If the creature detects you, it will instantly catch up and pounce. However, Thumper is incapable of a prolonged chase. You will be at a significant advantage if you don't approach it too closely and escape on time from the location where you encountered the creature.

Thumper has a weak point – low intelligence. It cannot use any tricks or cunning to catch the player. The creature is easy to deceive. Below is how to do it.

How to Defeat Thumper

Despite its appearance and heightened aggression, Thumper is quite dumb. It won't wait and hunt you down like, for example, Bracken or Coil-Head. Therefore, dealing with it is somewhat easier.

  • Thumper is completely deaf. If you see it from a distance, try to simply go around. You can make any noise and communicate via radio with other players to warn of danger. This won't trigger the monster or attract its attention;
  • The monster can only attack in a straight line. To avoid the attack, simply dodge to the side of the creature's claws;
  • Thumper needs to be hit 4 times to kill an Employee. This is quite a lot, giving time to escape and even heal;
  • If you're playing in co-op, one player can distract Thumper, and another can hit it with a shovel. It takes 4 shovel hits to kill the monster;
  • Before attacking, Thumper emits a loud roar. This indicates that the creature is preparing to attack, and it's time to run away;
  • Before update 45, Thumper significantly lost speed when turning, and a player could get away from it by running through winding corridors. After the update, this feature of the monster was removed, and the tactic no longer works;
  • Thumper completely resets its accumulated speed after being hit. For example, if the creature is running towards an unarmed player, another team member can catch up with the monster from behind and hit it with a shovel;
  • The best way to deal with Thumper is stunning. Use the shocker and then finish the creature with a shovel.

The strategy for dealing with Thumper is simple and clear. All you need to do is react in time to its appearance and be agile enough to grab a shovel and deliver a good hit. In all other respects, the monster is straightforward and doesn't involve the use of complex mechanics.
