What to do when Alexa Carlisle asks about your verdict in Dartmoor? Who is the real killer of Zachary

During the Hitman 3 mission "Death in the Family," you'll have to navigate a huge mansion in search of evidence pointing to the true identity of the killer. Spoilers ahead, so be cautious.

Detailed walkthrough of the Death in the Family mission

In this guide, we will explain how to obtain each of the accusations and what happens when you make them. Here is a list of the people you can accuse of the mysterious murder in Dartmoor: Zachary, Emma, Fernsby.

Who to accuse of Zachary's death

What happens if you accuse Emma?

Examine all the available clues, and you will have enough evidence to accuse Emma (who is essentially the murderer). To do this, read this article on the evidence.

When you accuse Emma of being the killer, the agent will start revealing the true story of the girl: Emma is not only Alexa's stepdaughter but also her illegitimate niece. It turns out that Emma is the daughter of Montgomery, Alexa's older brother, whom Alexa and Zachary killed 46 years ago.

Emma's mother, a local girl named Jane, was engaged to Montgomery when he died. Jane witnessed Zachary and Alexa pushing him off the balcony and believed that Alexa did it to steal the Montgomery empire from its rightful heirs.

Then Jane raised Emma to reclaim what was lost: to marry Gregory, Alexa's heir, to avenge Montgomery, and to take control of the Carlisle empire for her descendants. Emma used Alexa's funeral to expedite events, become the mistress of the house, and staged Zachary's suicide to remove all obstacles in her path.

It was the perfect crime - she had secret passages that were accessed with a cane, she developed a deadly poison using Zachary's own plants, and orchestrated everything to stage the suicide.

What happens if you accuse Mr. Fernsby?

By finding all the clues, you will unlock this ending. It's evident that he didn't commit the murders, but the items found in his room make you think.

When you accuse Fernsby, Alexa won't believe he's capable of such actions. However, the words of Agent 47, stating that the poison you found in his office matches the murder, will make her reconsider.

The notebook from the fireplace is another good clue, as Zachary tried to confess to Montgomery's murder after Alexa's alleged death. Since Fernsby was an accomplice in the cover-up, it's clear that he wanted to kill Zachary to protect himself and Alexa Carlisle's reputation.

She will be upset by these conclusions and ask you to keep the terrible secret.

What happens if you claim that Zachary took his own life?

To unlock this ending, you must find the secret room located down the corridor from Emma and Gregory's room. To access it, you'll need to retrieve the dog cane from Emma and Gregory's room. Go to the secret room and take the long-lost letter from Montgomery.

When you tell Alexa that her brother took his own life, she will initially be skeptical of the conclusion. However, Agent 47 starts revealing facts and evidence from his investigation, such as Zachary cultivating his own poisonous plants, his room being locked from the inside, belief in Alexa's death, and much more.

By accusing Zachary, you can achieve Alexa's death without your intervention

Do not ask her for money, only for the dossier. In this case, Alexa will accept her defeat and jump off the balcony (this will be considered a murder).

That's it! Now you know about the real killer of Zachary in the Death in the Family mission, Hitman 3. Good luck!
