Motherboard Troubleshooting in Genshin Impact 4.2: how to complete all the trials

24 nov 2023 at 19:32

Motherboard Troubleshooting – a tactical mini-game and one of the trials of the Thelxie’s Fantastic Adventures event. In the course of the tasks, you will help Freminet connect the microchips of the Telxie penguin robot.

With each level, the difficulty increases, so in this guide, you will learn how to create the right circuit for each level and guide the penguins to their destination.

How to Start Motherboard Troubleshooting

Motherboard Troubleshooting trials unlock after the introductory quest Water Imp's Conjecture. Meet Freminet, learn about the Telxie penguin, and Zuria Destree's sick son. You will familiarize yourself with the first trial in the quest, and access to the full chain will open afterward.

The goal of each trial: guide the penguin to the switch. The catch is that the number of elements you use to lay the path is limited. 1 tile = 1 element. This is the main challenge – you need to think through combinations, not just lay them randomly.

In each subsequent image, you will see the principle of how to lay paths from penguins to the destination.

Motherboard Troubleshooting: Completing All Levels

Basic Circuit Structure

You can complete the "Basic Circuit Structure" trial and all subsequent ones in Freminet's camp at the workbench, where you met the penguin robot.

There are two devices on the field with the following principles:

  • Vertical button. The path must go strictly through it in the specified direction. You cannot ignore it – the path will not count.
  • Open section with a switch. Located next to the final goal to which you need to guide the penguin.

A continuous signal will be provided if you pass through the button and connect it to the open section.

If the circuit is assembled successfully, the light will turn on, and a heart will appear above the penguin. If not, the trial will fail, and a "confusion" icon will appear above the penguin. To check the functionality of the circuit, press "Space."

Beginner Open/Closed Principle

"Beginner Open/Closed Principle" can also be completed on the first day of the trial.

The task is slightly more complicated. A second penguin appears, and there is a multi-circuit connection. To complete the trial, you need to connect both points according to the colors. Penguins move only in specific directions indicated by the arrow. You cannot turn them in another direction.

Start by laying the path from the first penguin under the green microchip I, guide it through the turquoise button to the end of circuit I. Guide the second penguin to microchip II from the switch side.

Important! Penguin paths, i.e., chains, should not intersect. Otherwise, the entire scheme will fail, and you will have to build it again.

Concise Synchronous Strategy

The third and fourth parts open on the second day of the trial on 11/24.

The level "Concise Synchronous Strategy" repeats the previous one and does not add new mechanics. The field only adds the number of buttons and switches. The passage mechanics are the same.

Here you need to lay two parallel paths. Guide the first penguin through the turquoise button and lead it to the red switch, and the second vice versa – through the red button to the turquoise switch.

Ingenious Assemblage Ideas

"Ingenious Assemblage Ideas" is a more challenging level, the main problem of which is limited space. If you act quickly and thoughtlessly, you will likely intersect two chains.

To make the task easier, start with the penguin on the orange field II. Guide it zigzag through the red button, then the turquoise one, bypass the penguin on the green field, and finally bring it to the end of the circuit.

The first penguin will take a much simpler path – just guide it to the red switch as if inside the "wall" created by the penguin from field II.

Motherboard Troubleshooting V

Opens on the third day of the event, 11/25.

Motherboard Troubleshooting VI

Information will be added with the release of the trial.

For completing all 6 stages, you will receive the following rewards:

  • 320 Primogems;
  • 300,000 Mora;
  • 8 Mystic Enhancement Ores;
