How to get a bad ending in The Witcher 3: Death of Ciri

The Witcher 3 is a legendary game in every aspect. The game excels in almost everything, from the smallest gameplay features to the storyline quests. There are only a few endings that directly depend on our choices during the game. Many consider the best ending to be the one where Ciri becomes a Witcher. We discussed how to achieve this in this article. Now let's talk about how to get the bad ending in The Witcher 3.

Attention: The article contains many spoilers! If you haven't played the game before, keep that in mind.

The bad ending stands out among the rest not only because it makes you feel sad. The ending has an impact on everything, including gameplay, as Geralt dies, and the game ends. In general, the game implies that Ciri also died in the battle with the White Frost, causing Geralt to give up and be killed by monsters without resistance. To achieve this terrible ending, you need to make the following decisions during the game (at least 3 of the below):

- The first one is when the witcher Vesemir dies. You can choose whether to play snowballs with Ciri or tell her that she doesn't have to succeed at everything. She reacts negatively to this, and the game considers it a negative action;

- Next, in the middle of the night, Ciri wakes Geralt up. Again, she offers us the opportunity to avenge Vesemir's killer. We agree, as always, but on the way, we go to Emperor Emhyr. He offers us a considerable amount of money. How can we refuse money? We accept it. Ciri, once again, reacts poorly to this action. She is upset that you were only looking for her for the sake of money. Now, we proceed to kill one of the leaders of the Wild Hunt.

- Moving on to the next stage. The Lodge of Sorceresses wants to talk to Ciri. She is very excited about this, and many players mistakenly believe that going to the meeting with her is a good thing. In reality, it is a negative step. This is what we need to get the bad ending in The Witcher 3. We simply go with her to the Lodge meeting and don't leave her alone.

- Well, are the actions negative enough? Let's continue with the story to Skellige, where we need to prepare for the battle with the Wild Hunt. We receive a task to go to the laboratory of a mysterious elf together with Ciri. We learn some quite unpleasant things there, but we simply calm Ciri down instead of helping her destroy the laboratory.

- And the last action is when Ciri asks to visit her friend Skjall's grave. We don't have time for such trivial matters, so we refuse.

Despite the fact that the game ends with the bad ending, you can still calmly play the DLCs by selecting the corresponding options in the game menu.

Done! We have done everything possible to make Ciri hate us. Now, let's continue with the story as usual. In the end, when the battle is over, Ciri goes to fight the White Frost. She has no good memories with you, she hates you, and she simply doesn't have the strength for this battle. She dies, and Geralt seeks revenge on the last of the witches from the swamps, after which he simply gives up and gets killed by monsters. As mentioned above, the game ends there, and the player is returned to the main menu. The other endings do not lead to such an outcome, and the game continues, allowing you to freely explore the game world.
