In this article, explanations of certain aspects of the history related to characters, the game world, and general plot twists in Resident Evil Village will be presented.

The information is taken from the game itself and some text fragments of concept art. Let's go!

Character History in Resident Evil Village

Mother Miranda is over 100 years old. She lived in the village during the Spanish flu and lost her daughter, Eva. At some point after Eva's death, she found the megamycete beneath the village, which granted her special powers.

Miranda used the mold to infect the village residents and experiment with them, using it for control. Ultimately, this led to the creation of lycans. During her experiments, she created Cadou, a parasite implanted in hosts to further mutate them (which resulted in the creation of the Four Lords). Initially, the creation of the Four Lords was intended for Miranda to find a vessel to revive Eva, but she deemed none of the four vessels suitable for her.

Alcina Dimitrescu retained most of her human form upon infection, although an extremely high regeneration rate made her much taller. Her hereditary blood condition requires her to consume blood or human flesh to keep her powers under control, leading to vampire-like behavior. She also experimented with the mutamycete, resulting in the birth of her three daughters.

Donna Beneviento maintained her human form upon infection but is unstable due to a mental illness and controls Angie and other dolls using her separated Cadou. She also produces a substance that controls plants and then creates pollen that causes hallucinations in normal people.

Salvatore Moreau underwent a drastic mutation upon infection, with parts of his body resembling a fish, and his brain increased in size and spread along his back, causing damage to his main organ. He can transform into a giant fish but is unable to control the transformation constantly.

Karl Heisenberg retained his human form and mental abilities completely upon infection, and he gained the ability to conduct electricity through his body, allowing him to telepathically manipulate metal. He works at the factory, conducting experiments on human corpses in an attempt to create a cyborg army to resist Miranda. Each of them has a Cadou implanted that acts as a reactor and controls them to carry out Heisenberg's orders.

Megamycete is the original colony of mold from which the E-Type mold in Resident Evil 7 originated. Over the course of 2000, the Connections obtained a sample of the mold from Miranda and then experimented with it to create a biological weapon, ultimately giving rise to Eveline. Through the Connections and the creation of Eveline, Miranda learned about Rose after the events in Louisiana.

Oswell E. Spencer (one of the founders of Umbrella) once visited Miranda and studied her and her work. This contributed to his research and led to the foundation of Umbrella Pharmaceuticals. He designed the Umbrella logo based on the black and white feather symbol found on the Giant's Chalice and other locations.

Explanation of the Secret Ending in Resident Evil Village

In the end, it is revealed that Ethan Winters died when he arrived at the Baker house at the beginning of Resident Evil 7. He was killed by Jack Baker and then somehow revived as mold, explaining his abilities.

Since he was mold, the destruction of Miranda and the megamycete led to the destruction of all the mold created based on him, including Ethan.

Years later, it is presumed that Rose will work with Chris and any organization he is currently affiliated with. She has undisclosed powers used to combat bioweapon attacks. It is with this war that the next part of Resident Evil 9 may be connected.
