The Secret Ending of Little Nightmares 2 raises many questions for fans of the franchise. Online debates raged about whether it is a sequel or a prequel, as well as discussing numerous other aspects. For a more detailed explanation of the secret ending and why Six betrayed Mono, read here.

The essence of Six and her Shadow remains a question: who is she and what role does she play in Little Nightmares 2? In this article, we will try to tell you more about the role of Six's Shadow in the secret ending. Let's go!

What is the Role of Six's Shadow in the Secret Ending

The secret ending starts with Six teleporting into the real world through the television. After she composes herself and stands up, her stomach starts growling, just like in the first part of Little Nightmares. We have several theories about why her growling wasn't present during the second part of the sequel.

How to Unlock the Secret Ending

When Six's hunger returns, her Shadow appears—a seemingly evil alternative version of the child. Six's Shadow was present in Little Nightmares, so her appearance here is expected.

Six's Shadow turns her head to the left and looks down at the flyer. Based on what is seen, the image on the paper is connected to the Maw (the ship from which Six escaped in the first part). After glancing at Six, the Shadow abruptly disappears.

It is quite possible that Six's Shadow is controlling her or hinting at what awaits her in the Maw—but more on that later. However, we suspect that it was Six's Shadow who allowed Mono to fall in the climax of the game. If that's the case, then it's possible that Six was not in control of herself throughout all of Little Nightmares 2.

By the way, during the secret ending, we see Six passing through the TV screen. There is a possibility that by holding Mono's hand, Six absorbed some of his abilities (something only he and Thin Man could do). She possessed a similar ability in the first Little Nightmares.

Is Little Nightmares 2 a Prequel or a Sequel?

Officially, Little Nightmares 2 is a sequel. However, it's not that straightforward...

So, it seems strange that Six's Shadow would make her go back to the Maw if she had just escaped from there. Some players also believe that Six's yellow raincoat is the same garment she picks up in Little Nightmares 2, not the other way around.

In addition to these obvious things, there are numerous other plot holes that do not align with the claim that Little Nightmares 2 is a sequel. It would be very interesting to hear the story from the developers themselves, explaining these significant nuances.
