Why are Genshin Impact ratings dropping on the Play Store and what are players mass-complaining about?

Genshin Impact is a very good and the most popular free gacha game of 2021. Like any gacha genre game, Genshin Impact has a donation system, which has taken the project to a high level and incredible income.

Before the global patch 2.0, players were satisfied, and the ratings of Genshin Impact remained high, but what happened after the release of Inazuma and the game's anniversary? Let's figure out why this successful and beloved project suddenly faced a lot of criticism.

Why did the ratings of Genshin Impact drop?

The game's ratings on the Play Store dropped due to massive complaints from users on the game's anniversary, as many players expected a generous gift on the game's first birthday. According to players, it wouldn't cost the multimillion-dollar company much to add ten more pulls to an already prepared gift.

Pulls - a special currency used to roll banners and obtain characters.

In reality, everyone received ten pulls (to obtain a legendary character, you need to spend 90 or sometimes 180 pulls) and a few other small items, plus a celebratory concert. Additionally, on the main Genshin community platform called "Hoyolab," developers announced numerous contests where participation and winning can earn you additional prizes.

An interesting fact is that after the mass protest, developers started sending gifts to players that were previously leaked from datamines as "donation packs."

What disappoints players about the game?

Every good project has its flaws that users want to address to make their favorite game even better. The complaints are mainly related to:

  1. Very frequent and serious errors in the Russian localization, including code elements appearing in dialogue text.
  2. Mismatch of announced character skill descriptions with the ones already released.
  3. Poorly developed story of Inazuma.
  4. Poorly designed abilities of 5-star characters.
  5. The difficulty of the Abyss increases, while characters don't receive any benefits from it.
  6. Electro element is still considered the weakest in the game, despite the release of Inazuma.
  7. Ignoring frequent user feedback, bugs, and other minor issues.

Overall, the game's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses, but that doesn't negate the fact that there is always room for improvement.
