Best melee weapons in Fallout 4

Melee Weapons in Fallout 4 - are close combat weapons. Don't confuse it with fist weapons. Melee includes everything related to blades: knives, swords, cleavers, machetes, saws, special clubs, and more. Its main advantage is the fast attack speed. It's most convenient to combine powerful firearms with melee weapons to sneak up on an opponent and kill them from behind when necessary.

In this guide, we've gathered the top melee weapons in Fallout 4 that you can reliably find in the game by exploring the open world. Let's delve into the features and advantages of each option.

Abilities

The main influencing ability is Big Leagues. This perk increases the damage dealt by melee weapons, including melee, with each level of upgrade. At level 4, the perk provides an 80% increase in damage and allows you to attack all enemies in front of you simultaneously. At the maximum level of upgrade, damage doubles, and there's a chance to spectacularly decapitate an opponent.

Best Melee Weapons

Kremvh's Tooth

Kremvh's Tooth leads the lineup of melee weapons with average attack speed. You can find it at the Dunwich Borers location.

You can add one of two modifications to Kremvh's Tooth: ritual or serrated blade. The ritual blade has a unique legendary property and can deal poison damage. If desired, you can attach the blade to a weapon with another legendary property, combining two properties on one blade. Very convenient.

On the other hand, +3 poison damage has little effect on overall damage. It's not worth relying on.

Shem Drowne Sword

Shem Drowne Sword can be found at the North End Cemetery after completing the quest "The Gilded Grasshopper."

The blade's special property is additional radiation damage. When equipped in the character's hand, you'll notice the blade emits a faint glow with a characteristic green radiation color. The sword also deals energy damage, but it's too low to take seriously. Its damage is slightly lower than that of Kremvh's Tooth.

Shishkebab

Shishkebab can be found at Saugus Ironworks on the body of the raider leader named Slag.

It combines both physical and energy damage. The best representative of Shishkebab is with the Blazing modification. But even it falls short in damage compared to the Sword and Tooth. The problem here is the mixed damage, which doesn't stack and yields rather low numbers.

Sword of Wonders

Sword of Wonders - a legendary version of the Chinese officer's sword with the "Puncturing" property. You can obtain it only with the Nuka-World add-on from Oswald the Outrageous during the "A Magical Kingdom" quest.

It's identical in characteristics to the Chinese officer's sword. Its advantage lies in the legendary property, which allows it to ignore 30% of the enemy's resistance to physical and energy damage. And this property indeed gives the sword significant advantages compared to other blades.

Here we have both physical damage on par with Kremvh's Tooth, a little energy damage, and resistance ignoring, making the Sword of Wonders one of the best melee weapons among those listed earlier. But there are still more options.

Throatslicer

Throatslicer is the first melee weapon with a fast attack type in the entire list. And it's already worth much more attention. You can buy Throatslicer at the Nuka-Town Market from Katelyn Alden.

The first and main advantage of Throatslicer is its high damage output, especially compared to previous blades. Moreover, it hits significantly faster than weapons with average attack speed. And with the legendary property, Throatslicer deals an additional 25 points of bleeding damage to the opponent.

Often, Throatslicer will kill human opponents in one hit. More powerful monsters - in 4-5 hits. You'll be able to play comfortably even without power armor. And if you increase your movement speed, you'll become a true killing machine that no opponent can handle.

Harvester

Harvester belongs to melee weapons with a very fast attack speed. You can find it only with the Far Harbor add-on at Echo Lake Lumber.

The blade's special property is a chance to stun the opponent. The damage here is significantly lower than that of Throatslicer, but this is compensated by the high attack speed.

Mr. Handy Buzz Blade

Mr. Handy Buzz Blade - a weapon from the Automatron add-on. It drops from Rust Devils at high character levels.

Initially, the blade isn't electric - you can get this property with a modification, after which physical damage will be mixed with energy. Again, the problem is the mixing, which doesn't result in significant damage but simply divides it into two parts, one of which (energy) is quite insignificant. As a result, we get less damage than with the Throatslicer. On the plus side, slicing monsters with a buzz saw looks quite epic, but that's where it ends.

Atom's Judgement

Atom's Judgement is essentially a hammer that can be obtained with the Far Harbor add-on from Grand Zealot Richter after completing the quest "The Heretic".

Atom's Judgement provides a +100 radiation damage - and that's its main advantage, which ensures a huge amount of damage. The upgraded perk Nuclear Physicist will be relevant here.

The weapon is capable of dispatching enemies in 3-5 hits, even if they have radiation resistance.

Throatslicer and Atom's Judgement are the definite leaders of the list, with the latter being slightly more powerful. Atom's Judgement is the best melee weapon available in Fallout 4. Be sure to find it with the add-on, or try using the classic Throatslicer.
