Review of the "Berlin" map: winning tactics of battle, secluded places and tricks from the statisticians.

The game map "Berlin" in WoT was introduced relatively recently. The developers have made an effort to capture the spirit of the past by incorporating historical architectural structures and parks.

Due to the diverse terrain and the presence of numerous hiding spots, players are wondering: how to play correctly and where to direct their combat tank during battles to deal significant damage and achieve victory? But before answering that question, let's talk briefly about the features of this location.

Structure of the "Berlin" map

This summer historical location is well-balanced and suitable for any type of vehicle. Here are the 5 main areas for engagements with opponents:

  • Tiergarten Park. Located in the central and southern parts of the map along the squares, starting from E3 and ending at K8.
  • City. It is situated within the coordinates C4-E7.
  • Bunker. It is visible at the center of the map and can be marked by squares F5 and G5.
  • Trench. Extending from the bunker to the bottom of the map, from coordinates D5 to K6.
  • Bridge. Located at the very top of the location. It can be found on squares B3-B8.

Features of battle tactics for heavy tanks with powerful armor

Heavies with good armored hulls are usually slow and not very maneuverable. Tanks such as Maus, E100, Type 5 Heavy, KV-4, ST-1, and others belong to this category.

To avoid being subjected to heavy artillery fire and shots from all positions, the most optimal option for battle is the "City." Here, near the buildings, you can comfortably play from the hull, earning blocked damage and bounces.

In the outer part of the "city," the best positions to take are on squares B4 (for the western base) and B7 (for the eastern base). These positions allow you to control enemy vehicles on the bridge and shoot at tanks approaching the central street of the city. Engaging in a firefight inside the city, while huddled under the buildings at points C5 and C6, is also a viable option.

Furthermore, well-armored tank destroyers (TDs) will also perform well in the city.

Hiding spot in the city

If you find yourself on this map in a heavy tank with a well-armored turret and a strong upper hull, you can take advantage of a special position in the urban courtyard on a demolished building. To do this, drive onto the "shelf" with a window and engage in combat from there, using the turret as cover. This spot is ideal for tanks such as WZ-111 5A, IS-7, Object 277, 60 TP, and others.

Where is the most effective place to provide spotting on the "Berlin" map?

For the Western Base

In this location, there are four main positions where you can effectively provide spotting of enemy vehicles:

  1. Square F5. By hugging the bunker, a light tank can spot enemy tanks crossing the bridge and entering the inner part of the city (C7, C8, D7), as well as control the movement on the central street along the 6 line.
  2. Point H5. This is the small bush area near the trench. It allows spotting of the entire Tiergarten Park territory.
  3. Square J4. There is slightly more "green vegetation" near the trenches in this position. It provides spotting of the same territory as the H5 coordinates.
  4. Point G4. The bushy area on this part of the field is shaped like a triangle. It is the safest zone, located closer to the base.

For the Eastern Base

On this side of the map, there are fewer bushes for spotting, but the following three points can be highlighted:

  1. Square F6. Located near the bunker, this position provides spotting of tank movements along the central road of the city and the bridge in a similar manner.
  2. Coordinate E6. This position is slightly dangerous, as there is a high risk of being spotted, but with good camouflage, it allows for more aggressive spotting of tank movements in the city and near the enemy base.
  3. Square J6. Similar to the J4 coordinates on the left side, there are bushes here that provide spotting of the entire open area in the southern part of the map.

Which vehicles are best suited for capturing the bunker?

The bunker is an important element in battle. By occupying it from the inside, you can not only detect enemy movements but also snipe at tanks that may be located in different open areas of the map.

It is most effective to occupy the bunker with medium and light tanks. However, not all models of this type are suitable for this object. The tank should have the following technical characteristics:

  • A sturdy armored turret;
  • A ricochet-capable hull;
  • A low vehicle profile.

Tanks of the medium type that meet these criteria include Object 140, 121, Object 430U, STB-1, T-62A, and others. Tall tanks will "suffer" in this location as they will constantly be penetrated in the turret and sides.

Nevertheless, other medium tanks can support their allies near the bunker by taking cover in the trench. For effective sniping from this elevated position, having good view range is sufficient for medium tanks.

Tiergarten Park - a convenient firing range for tank destroyers

This vast gaming territory is an open space. It is ideal for all tank destroyer models, heavy tanks with an autoloader, and some medium tank variants.

Although there are many barricades in this gaming object, not all of them are safe for engaging in sniping. Two optimal positions can be identified from both sides:

  • From the western base, you can engage enemies in the bushes on squares H3-J3. Be cautious when an enemy light tank is nearby; in this case, it is better not to take risks and hide behind a barricade. You can also engage opponents in the "vegetation" near the red line at point K4, where it is safer to fire, but it takes longer to reach that position.
  • From the eastern side, you should take positions on squares H7-J7. There are also good bushes at the identical point K7, but it will take longer to reach that position as well.

Who is best suited for playing on the bridge?

The bridge is an important object for engaging in sniping and controlling the open streets in the city area of the map. It is most relevant for vehicles with relatively fast engines, capable of speeds over 50 km/h. This includes both medium tanks and some types of heavy tanks, such as 113, IS-4, E50, Object 705A, Centurion, and others.

The essence of playing on the bridge is simple: occupy the desired barricade as quickly as possible and use it as cover. For this, it is desirable to have strong side armor and good turret armor.

Features of tactics for a victorious battle and maximum effectiveness of your vehicle

To avoid dying prematurely in battle and provide significant benefits to your team, you should adhere to the following principles based on your position on this map:

  1. In the field in the southern part of the map, do not rush forward, even if there is no spotting of enemy vehicles. The open space is prone to being spotted at any inconvenient moment, and finding cover afterwards will be virtually impossible. This position is intended exclusively for defensive purposes.
  2. In the city, it is best to rush only along the inner part. If the number of allies greatly exceeds the number of enemies, you can attempt to push them using your armor. There are also convenient positions to engage in close combat and pin the enemy's hull against the ruins of buildings.
  3. On the bridge, be vigilant. Damage can come not only from the city but also from artillery, as the terrain is quite open. Therefore, it is advisable to change positions while engaging in combat on this object. Additionally, if there is no enemy vehicle on the bridge, do not spend a long time in defense. You can advance along the bridge to the extreme points A1-A2 or A0-B0 and destroy artillery, then flank the enemy from behind in the city and trap them from both sides.
  4. If you occupy positions A0-B0 or A1-A2 in a tank destroyer, pay close attention to the dynamics of the battle. When the position on the bridge is lost by your teammates, it is recommended to change the location of your vehicle.
