Valheim: How to Repair and Destroy Items

>Don't worry if your favorite inventory in Valheim is broken - everything can be fixed and repaired.

Valheim is built around the mythology of Vikings, but survival is of utmost importance in the game. To avoid dying, you'll have to work hard and learn a lot, from crafting to building.

In this guide, we will tell you how to repair items in Valheim. As a bonus, we'll share all possible ways to get rid of unwanted junk. Let's get started!

Repairing items in Valheim

At the most inconvenient moment, something may break or become completely useless.

First and foremost, you'll need a workbench for repairs. But to place it, you first need to build a house or, in extreme cases, use an abandoned one.

Each tool has its own durability. As you might have guessed, it has the tendency to deplete, and once the durability reaches zero, the item will be broken. That's why we recommend repairing it at the right time, or else your axe might stop "working" in the middle of a fight with an enemy.

Before performing a repair, make sure the item is in your inventory. Once you approach the workbench, you'll see a hammer icon in the top corner. Press it, and the item will be repaired. Typically, no additional resources are required for repairs.

How to discard or get rid of items

In the world of Valheim, you'll have the opportunity to create various items, but not all of them will be useful to you during the game. Each resource or inventory item takes up space in your backpack. So the logical question is: how do you get rid of or discard unwanted items?

You can easily demolish structures and gather wood, which is especially useful in the early stages of the game.

How to create a storage chest

There are items that you won't be able to break, but you'll need to remove them. In such cases, a storage chest will be invaluable.

You can also drop an item in a special place. Read about this method in this article.

To create sections in a storage chest, you'll need the following resources:

  1. Wooden chest. It can hold 10 items. To make a wooden chest, you'll need 10 units of wood;

  2. Chest with reinforced walls. It can hold approximately 18 items. You'll need 10 fine wood and 2 iron to craft it.

  3. Small chest. It can hold 6 items. To craft a small chest, you'll need 10 units of wood and 8 iron.

You can create a wooden sign and label your storage chest.

Console commands for destroying items

Are you okay with using cheats? Then this method is perfect for you. First, drop everything you have on the ground and then activate the cheat mode. A console will appear, and in it, type removedrops. This command will remove everything in front of you.

You can familiarize yourself with other console commands in the game Valheim here.
