How to turn off aging for Sims in The Sims 4
The Sims 4 is a game where we can live life as Sims however we want. You can play as anyone — create an esports player, an actor, a scientist, a programmer, a wizard, and many many other options. However, the game features an aging system that allows characters to grow older. There are several life stages:
- Infant;
- Child;
- Teenager;
- Young Adult;
- Adult;
- Elder.

Depending on the life stage, characters unlock new gameplay opportunities, and each stage of life has its own pros and cons. However, some players do not want their Sims to age. The developers anticipated this and added the option to disable character aging in the game. How to slow down Sim aging:
- Open the game settings;
- Go to the “Gameplay” section;
- Find the “Sim Lifespan” section;
- Here you can choose 3 options: short, normal, and long. Naturally, choose long if you want to significantly slow down Sim aging.

In addition, you can completely disable aging. Pay attention to the tabs “Auto Age (Played Sims)” and “Auto Age (Unplayed Sims)”. If you uncheck the box next to auto aging, characters will simply stop growing older until you decide otherwise. Everything is максимально simple and convenient. If you want your Sim to age up while the settings are disabled, simply buy (or bake yourself) a cake and select the appropriate option.
Lifespan Settings in The Sims 4
As we found out above, in the settings you can choose 3 lifespan types: short, normal, and long. Let’s look at the lifespan lengths for each option. Short lifespan:
- Infants age up in 1 day;
- Children age up in 6 days;
- Teenagers age up in 6 days;
- Young Adults and Adults age up in 10 days;
- Elders no longer age up and simply wait for death.
Normal lifespan:
- Infants age up in 2 days;
- Children and teenagers age up in 13 days;
- Young Adults and Adults age up in 20 days;
- Elders simply wait for death.
Long lifespan:
- Infants age up in up to 8 days;
- Children and teenagers age up in 52 days;
- Young Adults and Adults move to the next stage in 80 days;
- Elders simply wait for death.
