Jeb in Lethal Company is a monster encountered by Employees every time they submit scrap metal for sale to meet their quota. Many players have become curious about other interactions with Jeb, whether he can kill a player, and what to do to prevent that.

Can Jeb Kill?

Jeb is not the monster's real name; it's what players call it. In the game files, the creature is named "CompanyMonster", suggesting that it belongs to the Corporation.

Jeb can kill players if they are not vigilant enough and the monster is too irritated. The risk arises every time an Employee goes to submit scrap metal. You don't see the creature's body, only its tentacles – red, long, with suckers. It will grab an Employee if it dislikes something.

How to Interact with Jeb Properly

When interacting with Jeb, players should remember a few basic rules that contribute to the mob's irritability:

• Jeb's mood constantly changes. There are three types: calm, excited, and aggressive (growling). Until the first quota is met, the mood at the beginning of each day will be random, and afterward, it will be excited. This means that your actions will influence whether the creature calms down or gets agitated;
• When the curtain is closed, Jeb sleeps. To wake it up and sell metal, the Employee presses the bell. To avoid provoking Jeb, press the bell no more than once. Two or three presses will enrage the monster. The bell sound is the most irritating to Jeb;
• Jeb is annoyed by any other noise. Try not to turn on the radio, not to use the horn, and other items that can make characteristic sounds;
• Jeb has a patience level. It depends on the mood the monster is in at the moment. The patience level can be below 0 – aggression but not more than 6 – calmness;
• Once Jeb's patience drops below 1, the monster starts making a threatening growling sound. This means it is ready to attack. In such a mood, it's best not to approach the mob;
• If the patience level becomes less than 0, each subsequent noise has a 50% chance of provoking Jeb's attack. It will release its tentacles, kill the Employee, and drag their corpse to its lair;
• Jeb can kill a player in several ways: regular tentacle animation (kill time – sec.), tongue (2 sec.), giant hand (3 sec.). The killing method depends on Jeb's mood and patience level;
• Once Jeb kills one of the players, the patience level will increase, and the curtain will close;
• Some players speculate that you can escape from Jeb's tentacles by crouching behind a counter. However, there is no evidence that this option works.

By the way, it is Sigurd who talks about Jeb in his records. He suggests that the Corporation's sole and true purpose is to feed this terrible monster. He also spoke about screams he heard behind the wall.

If Jeb grabs an Employee's corpse, you cannot retrieve it to the spaceship or even teleport it. So, avoiding penalties is not possible.

Can Jeb Be Killed?

It is impossible to kill Jeb by any of the available methods in the game. At a minimum, you cannot get close enough to strike or shoot it. The creature is out of reach for Employees and is covered by a curtain.

To avoid possible issues, do not provoke Jeb, and try to submit the metal as quickly as possible to prevent the monster from grabbing you.
