"Serve and Protect" is a series of side quests where you patrol Downtown Detroit and assist peaceful citizens. Completing all requests earns you experience points. The mission cannot be failed; only the character's relationship with people may change. In this guide, you will learn how to complete all parts of this side quest.

First Part of the Quest

This is done before starting the fourth story mission "Soot's Final Encore" and arriving at the slaughterhouse. As you progress, you'll need to address 6 issues:

• Fine a citizen for an expired parking meter;

• Fine a resident for parking in an unauthorized spot near a fire hydrant;

• Fine a citizen for leaking oil from their car;

• Help a homeless person and punish the offenders;

• Prevent littering in the river;

• Punish a resident drinking alcohol in an inappropriate place.

To fine someone, scan the problem area using a special function (activated by right-clicking) and attach the fine to the car's windshield.

Second Part of the Quest

In the second part, you also need to address 6 urban issues:

• Talk to a man smoking near a gas station;

• Punish a citizen littering on the street;

• Deal with a man who climbed into the city fountain;

• Handle a citizen engaged in vandalism;

• Fine a resident for parking near a fire hydrant;

• Fine a resident for violating parking rules.

One of the violators will be on the roof of a building. The rest can be found on the city streets. When talking to citizens, try to choose softer response options to avoid a negative opinion. Choose these options if you want to end the game with a good ending, which you can read about here. To make communication with city residents easier, upgrade the "Psychology" skill to six points.

Third Part of the Quest

In the final part, you need to address only three issues:

• Fine a citizen for parking near a hydrant;

• Fine a resident for oil spilled from their car;

• Punish a resident drinking alcoholic beverages in an inappropriate place.

Upon completing all parts of the side quest, you will receive 1000 experience points.
