A Comprehensive Guide to the Song of Bygone Times

Song of Days Past – one of the new artifact sets that will be added to the dungeon in the Genshin Impact 4.3 update. The set is suitable for healers and support characters.

In this guide, we will discuss which characters the Song of Days Past artifact set is suitable for and whether it's worth farming.

Song of Days Past: Characteristics

The set includes 4-5* artifacts: goblet, flower, feather, clock, and crown. By default, 5* artifacts are guaranteed to drop at the most challenging level of the dungeon. Along with the Song of Days Past, you can also farm the Nighttime Whispers in the Echoing Woods set – they are found in the same dungeon.

The equipment is designed in pleasant shades of blue, presumably reminiscent of Furina's luxurious attire.

Set Bonus

What the Song of Days Past artifact set provides:

  • 2 pieces: increases healing bonus by 15%;
  • 4 pieces: when the equipped character heals squad members, it creates a Yearning effect for 6 seconds, which records the healing performed (including excess). When the Yearning duration ends, it transforms into Waves of Days Past: upon hitting an opponent with a normal attack, charged attack, plunging attack, elemental skill, or elemental burst of your active character, the damage dealt is increased by 8% of the total healing registered by Yearning. After 5 activations or 10 seconds, the Waves of Days Past effect disappears. A single Yearning effect records up to 15,000 HP. Only one Yearning can exist simultaneously, but it can record healing provided by multiple equipped characters at once. This effect activates even if the equipped character is not on the field.

The description and working principle of the set may seem complex, especially for casual players. Indeed, the wording is intricate and implies adherence to several conditions. One thing is clear: the set is definitely suitable for healers and supports with healing capabilities that are not their main function.

The question is whether it makes sense for a support to focus on healing the squad rather than boosting the team's damage. For example, characters like Bennett or Xingqiu, who contribute more to the team through attack power – for Bennett – and energy regeneration – for Xingqiu.

Users note that the set seems questionable. In fact, it tries to replicate the Ocean-Hued Clam artifact set, which seems designed for healers but boosts other stats. The damage increase from this set is insignificant, so if you want to maximize healing, it makes sense to combine the set with other artifacts.

Combining with Other Artifacts

Basically, you can use any other sets, such as those for elemental mastery or percentage attack. It depends on what your healer specifically needs in your squad.

Common artifacts that can be paired with Song of Days Past:

  • Maiden Beloved/Loving Maiden. Provides even more healing;
  • Emblem of Severed Fate. A versatile support set for increasing energy recharge;
  • Wanderer's Troupe/Gilded Dreams/Flower of Paradise Lost. If playing through elemental mastery;
  • Tenacity of the Millelith. The HP boost is useful for some healers and supports whose abilities depend on the amount of health;
  • Noblesse Oblige. A versatile support set.

Combine sets and try different builds to find the optimal option for your squad with the right balance of stats.

Who Does the Song of Days Past Set Suit

The answer is simple: literally all healers. But a couple of characters still stand out:

  • Kokomi. Quickly restores a massive amount of health, making her an excellent fit for the set;
  • Furina. If you enjoy playing an Archon through Ousia. On Furina, Song of Days Past will heal the squad and buff the damage of characters who spend part of their health during attacks. A vivid example is Neuvillette, who pairs well with Furina;
  • Charlotte. With her ultimate, the journalist instantly restores a huge amount of health to all squad members. In terms of healing amount, Charlotte surpasses Qiqi.

Alternative but less effective options:

  • Kuki Shinobu in the squad NOT through Bloom. The problem is that the artifact set does not buff Blooms, and Kuki is very effective and convenient to play with them;
  • Dori. Less healing, but the set is still suitable;
  • Baizhu. Like with Kuki, the squad should not play through Bloom. In other cases, using the set makes sense.

In general, you can use 2 pieces of the set on any healer, especially if you have artifacts with good stats. Collect the full set only if you are confident that the chosen character can activate the 4-piece bonus.
