Mechanics of Sheer Cold

Characters can no longer stay in constant freezing temperatures. The developers have implemented a system where characters in Dragonspine can sustain themselves for a certain period of time. After that, they will start losing 2% of their HP per second. An indicator showing the character's level of freezing will appear above the health bar. It gradually fills up, and when it is fully filled, the character will start losing HP. 

Survival Methods in Sheer Cold

The developers have introduced several ways to survive the Sheer Cold in Genshin Impact. The following can help in the cold:

Statues of The Seven

In the region, there is one such point on the map. Characters within its range will not feel the effects of Sheer Cold. The range is limited. 

Teleport Waypoints

Teleport Waypoints have similar properties. We recommend unlocking all available Waypoints before embarking on a journey. Each unlocked Waypoint grants 50 experience points.

Bonfires and Torches

Remember those seemingly useless bonfires you encountered along the way? They now play a significant role. The developers have given them the ability to provide warmth and remove the freezing effect. 

Scarlet Quartz

This new level of ore is necessary for breaking eternal ice. The innovation lies in its ability to temporarily make the character immune to the cold. 

Fiery Fairies

It is these fairies that provide protection against the fierce cold. Unlike all the other fairies of Dragonspine, only their developers endowed them with such properties. 

Special Dishes

The dish that helps in the cold is goulash. It provides temporary invincibility to the entire party. Lasts for 900 seconds. It is not easy to cook it; you need to get steaks from a frozen boar. You can find them in the territory of the new location.

Pyro Energy Statues

Visually, they look like small stone monuments. When activated, they warm up a certain area, granting characters temporary cold immunity.

Warming Bottle

You can brew it at the alchemy table. You will receive the recipe for the bottle when you upgrade the Perpetual Frost Tree. The bottle is a consumable item and provides a small amount of energy during activation, which is what warms up the players. 

Team Composition Recommendations

In the current conditions, Cryo heroes are useless in the fierce cold, no matter what anyone says. The ideal option would be a Pyro hero as they are excellent at warming up in challenging conditions. The standard character, Amber the archer, is the best and easiest choice. Her normal attack ignites torches and bonfires. 

Traditionally, players bring Barbara as a healer. Now it is irrelevant because Barbara has a Hydro effect, and the character can simply freeze. It is relevant to bring either Bennett or Xingqiu.
