Among the aquatic fauna specimens in Fontaine, you can find numerous fascinating creatures, including unique ones related to puzzles and rewards. One such creature is the Strange Eel, mainly found in the aphotic zone, near the bottom of the water. It can be distinguished by its characteristic bluish bioluminescent glow. How to Interact with the Strange Eel

The main action required is to stop the movement of the eel. For this, you can use the skill of any Xenochromatic creature (although you'll often come across the Xenochromatic Jellyfish). Whether it's a single individual or a group (up to two), simply approach and use the skill to affect all the Eels at once.

Where to Find the Strange Eel in Genshin Impact

A brief overview of the locations where you can find this subspecies of fish is shown on the attached map fragment below.

First Strange Eel Puzzle

The first eel is located to the north, in a flooded clearing with a Xenochromatic Armored Crab. Destroying this "eel" will yield a rich chest (Exquisite chest).

Second Strange Eel Puzzle

Find the second eels near one of the structures in the Fortress of Meropide. They are a bit trickier to handle due to their number and specific location, making it challenging to intercept and destroy them all at once.

You'll receive one rich chest as a reward.

Third Strange Eel Puzzle

Not far from the first location, you'll find two more. This time, again, you'll get a rich chest for their destruction.

Fourth Strange Eel Puzzle

You'll find them next to the energy transfer terminal and a submerged old turbine. Once more, your reward will be a rich chest.

Fifth Strange Eel Puzzle

Just a stone's throw from the teleporter, you'll find another potential rich chest.

Sixth Strange Eel Puzzle

You can find the fifth pair without swimming to the cave entrance, and they will yield another rich chest upon their destruction.

Seventh Strange Eel Puzzle

These creatures dart through the aquatic depths to the north of the nearest Statue of The Seven. The reward for defeating them remains the same.

Eighth Strange Eel Puzzle

In this rare case of a single individual, defeating it will yield a common chest.

Ninth Strange Eel Puzzle

In the last location, you'll encounter a situation similar to the eighth, with a single eel and a common chest as the reward.
