Genshin Impact: How to Defeat the Terror of the Storm (Dragon Dvalin)
The Storm Terror - that's what players called Dvalin, the very first boss in the game. He earned his well-deserved title because he continuously unleashes his fury upon Mondstadt. To successfully confront the boss, you first need to level up to Adventure Rank 18.
Leveled up? Great, now follow our recommendations and the dragon will be at your feet.
How to Defeat Storm Terror in Genshin Impact
Once you reach the Stormterror's Lair, you will encounter a temple surrounded by magical barriers. To enter it, you need to climb up high and then descend below the temple's protection.
You will see crystals in front of you, activate them, and several more points with precious stones will appear on the map.
There are enemies in this area, but they are not dangerous if your character is at least level 25. This level will allow you to easily deal with enemies and improve your character at the same time.
You need to activate all the crystals on the map, and then the temple's protection will disappear.
Tactics Against Storm Terror
Phase 1
Starting from the first encounters, you will realize that Storm Terror will not give up easily, and you will have to work hard. At first, you will engage in a shootout with him (he will run away while you shoot crystals).
Once the dragon loses one-third of its hit points, it will start shooting purple spheres, which are not as dangerous, but you should not take unnecessary damage.
Pursue the boss, and he will start throwing blue crystals. You need to break them and keep moving. Be careful not to miss the tunnels made of green circles, as they allow you to get as close to the enemy as possible.
Sooner or later, there will be no more crystals on the dragon's back, and that's when the second phase begins.
Phase 2
Now you will have the ability to control members of your squad. Pay attention to the platforms around the arena, in the center of which your target - the dragon - stands.
Stormterror's Attack Waves:
Pulse Bomb - the creature will make several attempts to explode you with pulsating bombs. The explosions will occur where circles appear. Do not stand in these areas to avoid taking unnecessary damage.
Dragon's Breath - the enemy will release flames from its mouth, spanning from one edge to the other. To escape, we recommend avoiding the flames by moving to the opposite area or hovering above them using your character's abilities.
Bite - The Dragon will retreat and launch attacks where you are standing. Seize the moment when it leans back to step aside.
Flight - The Dragon may disappear for a few seconds. This is a sure sign to leave the center platform because that's where it will land, dealing massive damage.
Ultimate Attack - Stormterror will drop a pair of bombs from above. They deal significant damage, so avoid getting hit by them.
The Dragon will stand on one of the platforms, which will glow blue during that time. Other players should not stand on it because they will take around 300 damage every 2-3 seconds. As soon as you see the platform glowing blue, quickly switch to another one.
The essence of the battle with the Dragon is to attack it when Stormterror is nearby, such as during the Dragon's Breath attack. Your primary goal is to remove all of the enemy's armor first, and then it will become easier.
There will be a moment when Stormterror goes offline for a few seconds, and that's when a hero with a bow will come in handy, dealing effective damage.
After a few more seconds, Stormterror will flap its wings and fly away from you. Repeat the steps described above to bring it back. Try to preserve your HP for as long as possible because it will come in handy towards the end of the battle.
Continue attacking the Dragon until its health reaches zero. In the end, you will be shown an interesting victory cutscene. Increase the levels of your characters, and with the help of "Memories," you can fight the Dragon again.
