The best places to farm caps in Fallout 4
Bottle caps are the primary in-game currency in both Fallout 4 and the entire series. With them, you can buy items and weapons from local vendors. The design of the bottle caps found throughout the game world is reminiscent of the Coca-Cola version from the Fallout universe - Nuka-Cola, or Nuka-Cola.
In this guide, we've compiled the top locations based on the amount of bottle caps you can obtain from looting. This means that in these locations, you can pick up and subsequently sell some of the most valuable loot available during your exploration of the open world in Fallout 4.
Poseidon Energy
Poseidon Energy is a former factory of the same-named pre-war corporation located in The Commonwealth.
The main enemies at this location are Raiders and Mirelurks. Enemies here will be high-level, so the loot they drop is more valuable. Plus, there are many useful items scattered around corners and in crates, and the location itself is quite large. One of the Raiders will meet you in power armor, so be careful and only go to the factory when sufficiently leveled up.
If you thoroughly clear the location and collect the most expensive items, you can farm 2000-2500 bottle caps after selling them to a merchant. Loot drops are random, so all figures will vary.
D.B. Technical High School
D.B. Technical High School is another decent location, slightly surpassing Poseidon Energy in terms of bottle cap quantity.
There are no special enemies or conditions for passing here. The main enemies are Raiders, and their leader Bosco.
Vault 75
Vault 75 doesn't differ much in terms of loot quantity and quality from the previous locations.
But there's still a slight difference. The area is populated by many Gunners, who are some of the best-equipped enemies in the game. Be sure to collect weapons and armor that are light but expensive. The amount of bottle caps you can loot here is 2500-2600, and if you gather all the poorly placed junk, you can take away up to 3000 bottle caps.
Malden Center
Malden Center is a large complex of underground facilities.
The main enemies at this location are Synths, as well as Raiders. There's plenty of loot here due to the fact that two factions are fighting on the territory, so there are many corpses scattered throughout the corridors and halls from which you can pick up useful loot.
Another important advantage is the large number of enemies. Each new enemy awaits you literally around the next corner, if not sooner. So farming here is quite easy. In the end, you can get up to 3000-3200 bottle caps.
Libertalia
Libertalia is another location teeming with raiders. And here they are many times more than in all the listed places before this one.
Libertalia is predominantly a water location, consisting of semi-destroyed ships and parts of sunken vessels, between which you will navigate, so there is plenty of treasure and valuable loot here. Pay attention to the crates containing many spare parts, medicines, ammunition, explosives, and other small items.
Important: this location is challenging. You'll be right in the raiders' faces, so be prepared to constantly fend off attacks and carefully watch the enemy's positions. We recommend going here only when sufficiently leveled up.
Vault 95
Vault 95, according to lore, was once a refuge for people with addictions who were subjects of a social experiment. Therefore, this location is scattered with various types of narcotic drugs, including rare and expensive ones.
The main enemies are Gunners, who will be an additional source of useful loot. Here, everything needed for quick cap farming is combined: a large location, "rich" enemies, and useful loot scattered throughout the rooms. With some effort, you can collect more than 3000 bottle caps without much trouble.
Big John's Salvage Yard
Big John's Salvage Yard is populated by Super Mutants, who themselves are not carriers of valuable loot.
But corpses of Raiders, who fell victim to the mutants, are scattered all over the area. And it is they who hold many useful items. Thoroughly loot all bodies before leaving this place. In total, you can collect 3400-3500 bottle caps at the salvage yard.
Gunners Plaza
Gunners Plaza is rightfully the best place for farming. You can get almost 4000 bottle caps from here if you manage to clear the entire location. And that's quite difficult.
The major problem is the amount of skill and level of preparation needed just to get inside the building. The defense here is top-notch, plus the entire territory is controlled by Gunners. Without proper preparation, you'll perish in seconds. But the efforts are worth it.
If you haven't leveled up enough in Fallout 4 yet but desperately need extra caps, choose locations from the beginning of the list, excluding high-level ones. Yes, the items will be less valuable, but you'll definitely overcome the enemies and get the coveted currency. More advanced players can immediately head to the challenging locations to squeeze out the maximum from them.
