Best Legendary Weapon Properties in Fallout 4
Legendary property of weapons in Fallout 4 is a special characteristic of a legendary gun that can be obtained by completing quests or by killing legendary enemies. This property gives a significant advantage to the weapon but may not be unique, meaning it can drop again even if you already have a weapon with this characteristic.
In this guide, we'll cover the strongest and even overpowered legendary weapon properties in Fallout 4 that can drop in the game.
Explosive
Weapons with the Explosive property deal additional damage of +15 area damage from explosive bullets. The damage will be even greater if you invest in the Demolition Expert perk. This can only be used on firearms. For example, this property cannot drop on energy, melee, or fist weapons. Explosive bullets will look especially impressive and powerful on rapid-fire rifles.
Wounding
The Wounding property deals +25 Bleeding damage and ignores all resistances. It's suitable for any weapon, but it looks better on shotguns, automatic weapons, and any rapid-firing gun.
Instigating
The Instigating property doubles damage to the enemy if their health is full. At first glance, it may not be clear why this ability is overpowered since it's only relevant for the first shot - after that, the enemy's health will no longer be full.
The point is that this property is perfect for weapons with high single-shot damage. These include the Flamer, Fat Man, Gauss Rifle, or Super sledge. With skill, you can halve a powerful legendary enemy's HP bar with one shot or one-shot weaker enemies.
Two Shot
When firing a weapon with the Two Shot legendary property, the number of shots is doubled. However, ammo consumption remains the same. So you fire two bullets, but only one is spent.
One downside is that the property increases recoil by 25%. This ability isn't suitable for melee or fist weapons for the same reason: they don't use bullets or charges. But for rapid-fire and sniper weapons, it's very effective.
Defiant
The Defiant property only drops on ranged weapons. With it, the last round in the magazine deals double damage. From the description, it's clear that this perk isn't suitable for weapons with a large ammo capacity. It's best to use shotguns or guns with a small number of rounds. For example, the Fat Man.
Nocturnal
The Nocturnal property works interestingly and can drop on any weapon. A gun with this characteristic will deal more damage at nighttime. During the day, damage will decrease. From 6 am to 9 am, damage will be 66% of the original value. From 9 am to 6 pm, it's only 33%. From 6 pm to 9 pm, damage returns to 66%. From 9 pm to 12 am, damage increases and reaches 150%. And from 12 am to 6 am, the value will be the highest - 200%.
Of course, the application of this property is limited, but if you often play at night, then this is the option for you.
Junkie's
The Junkie's property is one of the most unusual and specific in the game. For maximum enhancement, your character must have all available drug dependencies. The property works like this: the more addictions the character has, the more damage they deal. It's relevant for all types of weapons. With all dependencies present, damage increases threefold. The problem is that dependencies come with many unpleasant debuffs that affect the character's well-being.
Bloodied
The Bloodied property is also quite situational. It's only relevant for melee weapons, which already deprives you of the ability to use pistols, automatics, shotguns, machine guns, and others. If this is your style of play, then there won't be any problems.
It works on the principle that the lower the character's health, the more damage they deal. 5% lost health = 5% increase in damage. There's an obvious downside: this property puts the player in a fairly dangerous and difficult position. To achieve maximum impact, you need to reduce the HP bar to a minimum, which is risky and can lead to accidental death or being one-shotted.
Relentless
The Relentless property allows you to restore Action Points (AP) with each critical hit. It's suitable for those who like to attack in V.A.T.S. mode. The ability is very strong but, again, situational.
Furious
The Furious property can rightly be considered one of the most overpowered in the game. With it, the gun will deal increasing damage with each new hit on the same target (+15%). The problem is that it's only available for two guns in the game: Splattercannon and The Problem Solver. We've covered the combat power and uniqueness of these rifles in a separate guide - we recommend checking it out. We've also detailed where to find them.
Some properties are universal, some are situational and suitable only for a specific play style. In any case, they are all strong and will be extremely useful. Moreover, situational abilities significantly enhance perks for the same play style or weapon.
