The Killing Moon in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty: how to complete the final quest

10 oct 2023 at 13:06

"The Killing Moon" is the thirteenth and final quest of the Phantom Liberty expansion. Completing this mission will lead to the "King of Wands" and "King of Swords" endings.

During the mission, you will have to make some important decisions, in particular: kill Solomon Reed or help Song So Mi. Choosing between the two main partners can be difficult, so in this guide, you will learn how to complete the final quest and what endings your decisions will lead to.

How to start The Killing Moon quest

To access the mission, you need to follow Song So Mi's storyline. To do this, in the story quest "Firestarter", help the girl escape and do not hand her over to Reed. The quest will begin in one of the following ways:

  • If you completed the quest "Run This Town" and made Chester Bennett the head of Dogtown, Song So Mi will contact you;
  • After the "Firestarter" mission, in a couple of days. If Song So Mi does not contact you, fast forward the time.

Song So Mi will call and update you on her status. She will give you the address for the meeting and set the next target – a shuttle headed to the Moon.

How to complete The Killing Moon quest

Head to the meeting place with Song So Mi

Head to the harbor area indicated. In the black van, you will find Song So Mi, who's not in the best shape. Like you, she needs medication. A secret organization on that shuttle is working on its development. Your main mission objective is to get there and also get Song So Mi there.

Proceed to the spaceport

Take control of the van and head straight through the bridge towards the spaceport. Once there, stay away from the FRU staff. You don't have to hide, just try not to get too close, avoid eye contact, don't linger in one spot, and don't draw attention in any other way.

Go through the inspection

Go up to the second floor. Pass through the inspection point, where you will be searched and your weapons confiscated. While Song So Mi hacks the system, distract the guard with one of the dialogue options. Your choice won't affect the story or mission outcome.

Retrieve Song So Mi's accomplice's suitcase and change clothes

After the inspection, head down and proceed to the area marked "LUGGAGE". Approach one of the terminals and enter the code 930604 to retrieve a yellow suitcase. Inside, you will find a guard's uniform that you need to put on to access the rooftop disguised as an employee.

Important! Do not change into the uniform in public. Go around the corner and change your clothes from your inventory, or you risk being exposed.

Head to the rooftop

Follow one of the guards indicated by the marker. Climb the stairs and cross the tracks where the train goes. There, you can take cover and sneak into the spaceport undetected. Use the fire hose to climb.

You will land on a construction site where you can no longer move freely even in the employee uniform. Use stealth and carefully navigate between boxes, cabinets, and other hiding spots. Watch out for surveillance cameras to avoid being seen.

From the control room, head to the elevator. Remember to monitor enemies on the mini-map and watch for cameras to safely pass through the area. Finally, you can get to the rooftop.

Find a way to lift Song So Mi

A new problem arises. Song So Mi managed to get to the roof, but she is a level below, and she doesn't have the strength to climb up on her own. The main character must find a way to lift Song So Mi to his level.

Examine the space around you and find the fire hose indicated by the marker. Use it to lift Song So Mi. At this moment, Rosalind Myers' helicopter will land on the roof. To avoid being detected, move forward through the ventilation.

Reach the main hall of the spaceport

From Rosalind's speech, it will become clear that her main target is Song So Mi. The president wants to capture the girl for betrayal. The woman orders not to shoot Song So Mi in the head and to bring her body intact.

Take the elevator to get to the main hall. From this moment, the final battle begins. All corridors will be filled with FRU soldiers. Move forward to the marker, shooting back. You can ignore some soldiers, but if so, try to take cover and avoid running recklessly to avoid getting shot.

At the end of the path, reach the elevator that will take you to the shuttle.

Go through the terminal

In the next "Quiet" terminal zone, you'll have to shoot back again and make your way forward through an army of soldiers. The strategy won't differ from the previous path – just head towards the marker, fending off enemies or dodging their attacks.

Climb up the escalator and proceed to the area labeled "ORBITAL AIR".

Get to the top floor of the station

Break through the US agents to get to the top floor of the station and approach the console. Protect Song So Mi while she hacks the system.

Rosalind's agents will advance, so Song So Mi will suggest using the Blackwall. Support the girl's decision, and after another battle, help her head towards the train.

Talk to Song So Mi

As soon as you're in a safe place, inside the train, Song So Mi will speak with V and reveal the main secret. In fact, she deceived you, and the medication is enough only for one person. Such betrayal allows the main character to reconsider the choice made and ultimately decide whose side to take.

Who to choose: Solomon Reed or Song So Mi?

Immediately after the phone conversation, a cut-scene will start where you'll meet Solomon Reed. He doesn't want to harm either Song So Mi or V, but he needs to take the girl, hand her over to the USA for betrayal, and help her heal. The latter claim is doubtful, and one can assume that Reed is truly pursuing only the first goal, and no one is going to fight for the girl's life. Solomon offers V to hand over Song So Mi in exchange for medication.

Development options:

  • Refuse the offer and kill Reed;
  • Agree to give up Song So Mi in exchange for medication;
  • Agree to hand over Song So Mi for free.

Each option will lead to a specific ending.

“King of Swords” Ending

Available if you choose to give up Song So Mi in exchange for medication. Reed will take the responsibility of restoring Song So Mi, and V will be able to heal, but without the possibility of ever meeting the girl again. With this ending, Reed survives, and the story concludes.

A similar ending can be achieved if you give up Song So Mi for free. The responses will be similar, but in this case, the final phrase will be: "I don't need anything". V will hand the girl to Reed, who will definitely receive the medication and survive, but V is unlikely to.

“King of Wands” Ending

Available if you reject Reed, engage in combat with him, and kill him. After that, escort Song So Mi to the shuttle. The girl will depart, and V will be doomed to a slow death.

These are all possible endings and development options for Song So Mi's storyline. Each option has a continuation of small quests. For example, if you help Reed and hand over Song So Mi, the quest "Through Pain to Heaven" will start, in which Reed will offer V a surgery to remove the biochip.
