The best LT branches for LBZ completion: analyzing characteristics, lighting tips, and the specifics of using equipment in combat

7 sep 2021 at 12:50

LBZ (Personal Combat Missions) are specially designated missions in the game for all types of vehicles that are rewarded for their completion. Not all vehicles can be suitable for quick and effective mission completion based on their characteristics.

The most challenging LBZ can be encountered when playing light tanks, as in some cases, active spotting is required, while in others, passive spotting is needed, along with dealing damage. Which tech tree is ideal for completing all missions? Read more about it in the article.

French Vehicles - Passive Spotting

Over the years, developers have introduced numerous new tank models to compete with the French "lights," but these innovations have not been successful. Representatives of the aforementioned nation still remain the most optimal tech tree for high-quality passive spotting of enemy vehicles.

The main characteristic of these tanks is the consistency of their stats within the tech tree. This means that the tactics used for these tanks are identical, allowing for a consistent playstyle.

Tier 6: AMX 12

You can start completing simple LBZ missions with this tank. The tank itself has decent characteristics:

  • A 4-shell drum with 110 damage per shell;

  • Best camouflage among Tier 6 light tanks;

  • 145 mm penetration, allowing to penetrate all types of vehicles at its tier, even the front armor;

  • Compact size with low visibility.

The vehicle has virtually no armor, so using it in active combat is a significant risk. Additionally, when engaging with another light tank, there is a high chance of being sent back to the garage, as the 450 HP from the drum shells is not enough to kill an enemy.

Tier 7: AMX 13 75

The technical characteristics of this model don't stand out among its peers at the same tier. Generally, many Tier 7 tanks are average, and this tank is no exception. It is essentially a duplicate of the AMX 12, sharing the same hull, speed, penetration, and alpha damage. The only improvement is a reduction in drum reload time.

It's possible to complete missions with the AMX 13 75, but it's better not to focus on it since the Tier 8 light tank in this tech tree is much more versatile.

Tier 8: Bat.-Châtillon 12 t

The mobility and small size of the French tank allow it to take advantageous positions at the beginning of the battle for passive spotting. To easily relay reconnaissance data to allies, it's recommended to have a camouflage net. In such positions, utilizing the drum is highly beneficial, as it helps to whittle down opponents (which is a requirement for some LBZ missions).

Among the advantages, the following points can be highlighted:

  • Relatively fast drum reload time of 19 seconds, with a 2-second reload time per shell;

  • 680 damage from the drum, which can be enough to finish off an enemy target;

  • Decent penetration for an 8th tier light tank, at 170 mm.

Tier 9: AMX 13 90

A long time ago, when the AMX 13 90 was at Tier 8, it was considered overpowered compared to all other light tanks in the game. Now, it has moved up a tier and acquired a powerful 90 mm F3M gun. The tank has decent penetration at 170 mm and deals an alpha damage of 240, and since it has a drum, it can deliver over 1000 damage within seconds.

To use the tank for bush fighting, the following modules should be installed:

  • Camouflage net;

  • Binocular Telescope;

  • Coated Optics.

The engine power of 65 km/h allows for instant relocation on the map, especially when urgent assistance is needed to spot enemies on another attack flank. Among the weaknesses, the tank has low hit points and a tendency to catch fire, further emphasizing the usefulness of bush spotting tactics.

Tier 10: AMX 13 105

In terms of parameters, this tank doesn't differ much from the AMX 13 90, but it does have better characteristics:

  • 234 mm penetration with the base shell;

  • 390 damage per alpha;

  • 1400 hit points;

  • Top speed of 68 km/h.

When compared to other light tanks, it slightly falls behind in mobility and view range (although this can be improved with specific modules). However, its main advantage is the presence of a 3-shell drum, which can cause significant losses for opponents.

Considering the fact that some LBZ missions require not only providing reconnaissance data but also dealing substantial damage, this French tank is indispensable for completing the Tank Company missions.

Wheeled Vehicles - Best Option for Aggressive Spotting

Two years ago, Wargaming introduced a revolutionary innovation that changed the entire gameplay dynamics - the introduction of French wheeled vehicles with a special control mechanic. Their distinguishing feature is their insane speed and high dynamics.

Tier 6: AMD 178B

This is the first wheeled vehicle you should get acquainted with. It has the fewest number of wheels - only 4. This is why it doesn't have a very high speed, and disabling one of its wheels can significantly reduce its mobility.

Nevertheless, some initial missions can be completed with it. The tank's gun has modest characteristics, so it's best to use high-explosive shells for effective combat.

Tier 7: Hotchkiss EBR

This is the continuation of its younger brother, the AMD 178B, but with 6 wheels. The task of this tank is the same as the previous Tier 6 vehicle: actively move around the map, "terrorize" players near their base, locate and destroy artillery, and engage opponents in their side armor.

When playing with this wheeled vehicle, forget about its view range and hull bounce. The main defense against enemy fire is its maneuverability and agility, and the best defense against being spotted is to aggressively move towards the enemy until they are detected.

Tier 8: Lynx 6x6

Starting with this model, you can experience all the capabilities of a wheeled vehicle. Specifically, from Tier 8 onwards, two driving modes are available:

  • Standard mode (designed for smoother cornering);

  • High-speed mode (for maximum acceleration and straight-line movement).

The forward motion of the vehicle can reach speeds of up to 80 km/h, while the reverse speed is up to 60 km/h. Starting from Tier 8, this model offers an increased percentage of vehicle concealment, as well as an increased damage per minute (DPM) of 1750.

Tier 9: Panhard EBR 90

Compared to the previous wheeled vehicle, this tank has the following improved characteristics:

  • Increased concealment level;

  • Turret rotation speed increased from 60 to 66;

  • View range increased from 310 to 300 meters;

  • Number of wheels increased to 8, with larger wheels providing better protection for the hull against incoming shells.

The EBR 90's engine has the unique feature of achieving the same acceleration speed in both modes (85 km/h). With these characteristics, this armored vehicle can easily excel in most missions of the Personal Missions with Honors (LBZ).

Tier 10: EBR 105

This model can be considered a worthy reward for progressing through the corresponding tank branch. Compared to the EBR 90, the alpha damage is nearly doubled, with a base damage of 390 compared to the previous tier's 240. High-explosive rounds significantly compensate for the low penetration. It is recommended to use HE rounds with a 105 mm penetration, which is enough to destroy light tanks, SPGs, and certain types of tank destroyers.

Other advantages of the EBR 105 include:

  • Perfect gun stabilization;

  • Rapid aiming time of 1.4 seconds;

  • Top speed increased to 95 km/h, which further increases the chances of ricochets and misses from enemy fire.

The top-tier wheeled vehicle should have specialized crew skills/perks. To optimize the crew's performance, it is recommended to select the following skills:

  • Brothers in Arms;

  • Eagle Eye or Radio Interception;

  • Camouflage.

Since this branch does not have particularly high view range, it should be increased with equipment. Enhanced Ventilation and Coated Optics can increase the view range to 445 meters.

Versatile Soviet Light Tanks

If you prefer not to adhere to a specific style of play, Soviet light tanks are an excellent choice. These domestic light tanks have good mobility and armor, allowing you to use them effectively in close combat as well as in support roles.

This branch is ideal for newcomers who are just getting familiar with the basics of playing with light tanks.

Tier 6: MT-25

At one time, this type of vehicle replaced the legendary T-50-2, and many players expressed skepticism about its effectiveness as a scout. However, they were mistaken. This tank has three key advantages that distinguish it from other Tier 6 light tanks:

1. Speed, reaching up to 62 km/h.

2. Rate of fire. The gun can fire up to 30 shots per minute. The low penetration should not be a concern. First, it does not affect engagements with other light tanks, as they have virtually no armor. Second, by loading gold rounds, you can penetrate tanks of Tier 7 and 8 every 2 seconds.

3. Bounce armor. Despite the seemingly low armor thickness of 45mm at the front and 40mm on the sides, the tank actually bounces a significant number of shots at high speeds.

Some players complain about the tank's large size, but this characteristic can also be beneficial. The tank's significant weight is useful for ramming enemy SPGs and light tanks.

Tier 7: LTG

This tier can be considered average, as it lacks strong characteristics to confidently use it for various missions. Like all Tier 7 tanks, the LTG has mediocre stats, with notable features being the presence of armor in the hull and good gun depression angles.

Unlike the MT-25, this model has a low profile, which can be advantageous for spotting at medium and long distances on uneven terrain (sand dunes, hills, foothills).

Tier 8: LTTP

After upgrading from the LTG, this model can be considered a "farming" vehicle for completing many Personal Missions. The LTTP has significantly improved armor protection, and its frontal turret can withstand even some shots fired from Tier 8 and 9 guns.

With its good maneuverability, this tank is convenient for circling less agile vehicles. You can confidently approach the enemy from behind and target their most vulnerable spots while they try to turn their gun towards you. Looking at the LTTP's gun, the first thing that catches the eye is its high rate of fire (11 shots per minute) and bullet accuracy.

Tier 9: T-54 Lightweight

Arguably one of the best Tier 9 tanks for completing missions like "LT-10: Maximum Result" or "LT-11: Equal-to-the-task Battle." With its decent mobility, this tank can be used on the frontlines, where you have the opportunity to deal significant damage in the range of 4,000-5,000 hit points. The T-54 Lightweight features a good gun stabilization, allowing you to engage enemies without hesitation and accomplish various damage-dealing missions.

The "Lightweight" also has the following characteristics:

  • 180mm turret armor on the front, allowing you to bounce shots from various ridges and cover;

  • A decent 100mm gun, borrowed from the Soviet T-44, delivers a specific power of 250 hit points with a penetration of 170mm, which allows the light tank to serve as a support medium tank in certain situations;

  • Top speed of 70 km/h.

Tier 10: T-100 LT

According to many statisticians, this top-tier light tank is considered the best overpowered (imbalanced) vehicle of its kind. The T-100 LT's advantages significantly outweigh its minor drawbacks:

  • One of the highest concealment coefficients, around 20%;

  • Bounce armor and turret, increasing the chances of survival in combat;

  • Perfect mobility: the engine delivers 720 horsepower, allowing for easy traversal of soft and medium terrain;

  • Fast aiming time of 2 seconds, excellent stabilization at 0.46m.

The top-tier light tank is recommended for continuous use, so the following equipment should be installed:

  • Coated Optics;

  • Improved Ventilation Class 3;

  • Commander's Vision System.
