How to use a camouflage net in World of Tanks game

Camouflage is the main element in gameplay during combat. This feature allows a tank to remain unnoticed for a long time while dealing damage or providing good spotting for the team incognito. To effectively use camouflage, you need to have specific knowledge in its application, have an idea of which equipment is best to use to enhance this option, and consider many other aspects that will provide additional advantages during cover in battles.

Which vehicles are suitable for camouflage

Currently, it is impossible to say definitively that any type of vehicle is unsuitable for camouflage because it depends on the user's gameplay style. Even medium and heavy tanks can be used as a "tool" for waiting, preferring to remain unnoticed.

Camouflage will be most useful for those who will engage in passive combat both in the medium and rear lines of attack.

The camouflage net is most rational to use in the following situations:

  • For a light tank with passive spotting in a specific position. This will provide information about the enemy tank's position without the risk of being seen. However, light tanks should not fire to avoid losing camouflage.
  • For tank destroyers with low levels of armor. This will increase the likelihood of comfortable gameplay from the rear without unnecessarily taking hits during active enemy attacks.
  • For self-propelled artillery to prevent spotting by enemy light tanks that can sneak into the base unnoticed.

Factors that affect invisibility during gameplay

  1. Vegetation. Vegetation significantly adds to the invisibility bonus. It can include trees, bushes, tall grass. The most important thing is to hide all angles of the vehicle's hull in this place, as the enemy tank's "spotting" occurs through them. Only the position of the tracks and gun outside the vegetation object is allowed. The game's mechanics are such that bushes and trees become transparent for a tank hiding at a distance of 15 meters, opening up the entire field of view around the location.
  2. Vehicle size. Based on their dimensions, each model of a combat vehicle has a unique camouflage coefficient. Heavy tanks like the E100 or KV-4, with a lot of armor and large sizes, have a minimal visibility value. On the other hand, tanks with a low profile or small form, such as the E-25, UDES 03, or ELC AMX, can boast decent camouflage parameters.
  3. The presence of equipment and additional modules on the vehicle.

Factors that can reduce tank visibility

  • Active movement. All invisibility characteristics are taken into account when the vehicle is stationary. Possible movements forward and sideways reduce the coefficient to the following levels: 50% for artillery and heavy tanks, 60% for tank destroyers, and 70% for medium and light tanks.
  • Firing the gun. The firepower also reduces the visibility of the combat vehicle. The percentage level depends on the gun caliber – the higher it is, the greater the chance of being detected by enemy forces.
  • Close proximity of enemy forces. At distances up to 50 meters, both fighting sides can see each other. If you use camouflage on your tank, you should try to avoid close contact with the opposing side. When you spot an oncoming tank, it is best to leave the position.
  • Fire. Setting the vehicle on fire halves the invisibility parameters. A burning vehicle will be visible from a distance, attracting the attention of the enemy reconnaissance.

Features of increasing camouflage on a combat tank

The developers of World Of Tanks have provided several options that can improve camouflage parameters. This can be done by installing certain crew skills, using modules, and applying camouflage.

Professional Crew Skills

Crew skills can significantly increase the tank's invisibility. To do this, it is advisable to train the crew members in camouflage up to 100% and then assign the skill "Camouflage" to all of them. This skill doubles the camouflage coefficient. The main feature of this perk is that it can be active while moving and during combat engagements. The "invisibility" mode is also not reduced when the tank is stunned by artillery.

To further enhance the effectiveness of the "Camouflage" skill, the second skill to assign to the entire crew is "Brothers in Arms."

Camouflage Net

This additional module allows for an increased "invisibility" mode in bushes according to the following percentages:

  • 15% for tank destroyers.
  • 10% for medium and light tanks.
  • 5% for heavy tanks and self-propelled artillery.

In the game, this module is indicated at the bottom center of the screen, identifiable by the camouflage icon. The active status of this equipment can be determined by the green glow that appears a few seconds after the tank assumes the correct stationary position.

Additionally, the "Improved Ventilation" equipment and national food can further enhance this module.

Camouflage

Camouflage not only provides a visual appearance that can blend with specific terrain on the map but also increases the detection coefficient depending on the tank class:

  • 4% for tank destroyers.
  • 3% for medium and light tanks.
  • 2% for heavy tanks and self-propelled artillery.

To effectively use this equipment, it is sufficient to apply camouflage only to the vehicle's hull. Using it on the gun or turret is purely aesthetic.
