Valheim: How to Farm Bones and Where to Find Skeletons
The Valheim game world is filled with various monsters, but now let's talk about skeletons. They are needed to collect bones that are necessary for upgrading your items.
In this guide, we will tell you where to find bones in Valheim and what they are used for. As a bonus, you will learn where to find skeletons and other undead creatures. Let's get started!
Skeletons in Valheim
The developers have introduced two types of undead in the game:
- Skeletons - they are hostile towards the player and want to kill you. They are usually armed with a sword, shield, and bow. After defeating an enemy, you can collect the following trophies from them: "skeleton" and "bone fragments." They have a clear weakness to blunt weapons and some immunity to piercing.
- Decayed Skeletons - undead creatures that are highly hostile towards you. They will try their best to kill you. You can distinguish them by their greenish color and larger size. You will recognize their weapons from a mile away, as they emit a green glow. The trophies obtained from these skeletons are: "decayed skeleton" and "bone fragments." They have the same weaknesses and resistances as the regular skeletons.
Draugr in Valheim
You can obtain bones in places where Draugrs reside. These are undead beings found near their graves, guarding the treasures buried with them. They are hostile towards you. After defeating them, you can collect their entrails and Draugr trophies.
Locations of Skeletons and Draugrs
- Skeletons usually inhabit swamps and the Black Forest. They guard ruins and burial chambers.
- Draugrs are usually found inside burial chambers and various underground structures.
- Decayed skeletons are the most dangerous creatures in the game. You can find them in the Swamp biome. They guard abandoned tombs and outposts. They are always hostile towards the player.
What are Burial Chambers?
Burial Chambers are small underground structures found in meadows and black forests. In any case, you will have to explore them, where you will find Surtling Cores.
The structures mainly consist of a large number of interconnected rooms with corridors. Your task is to find altars because they contain a large amount of treasure and the Surtling Cores you need.
Abandoned Outpost
It is located in the Black Forest biome. The location of these structures is usually near the coast. There will be barrels or chairs in front of the entrance. These structures contain random treasures guarded by Greydwarves.
Ruins
Usually, it is an abandoned house made of stone. There are also several torches glowing on it. They are located in the Black Forest biome or near the coast. Undead creatures often lurk around them.
Tombs
These are underground structures located in the Black Forest. When you enter inside, you will be greeted with an extraordinary view: red banners, cages, and burning iron torches. Inside, you will find two or one chest with gold. Each tomb is guarded by skeletons.
Sunken Crypts
Sunken Crypts are located in marshy areas.
What are Bone Fragments used for?
Bones in Valheim are used to upgrade troll leather armor. Once you collect the complete set of 4 pieces, your character becomes 25% sneakier. To achieve this, you will need 3 Bone Fragments for the helmet and 10 for the troll leather cape.
In general, collect as many bones as possible; they will definitely come in handy.
