Valheim: How to Plant Seeds and Craft a Cultivator

2 mar 2021 at 11:10

To begin with, you need to understand that before engaging in farming in Valheim, you'll have to gather basic primary resources. In this guide, we'll tell you where to find seeds, how to plant them, and make them grow.

The game is designed in such a way that if the character eats properly and balanced, they will gain many cool benefits. For example, health regeneration, especially after eating stew or soups. However, you'll have to grow all the crops yourself to cook the right food.

How to Plant Seeds in Valheim

To effectively plant crops, you'll need a Cultivator. Access to it will be available after completing several quests. Simply apply the cultivator to a specific area and till it.

Action Algorithm:

  1. Take the tool in your hand and pay attention to the green area around the ground - it is the radius for cultivating the soil.

  2. Click on the highlighted soil patch with the mouse button, and the cultivator will start tilling.

  3. Right-click again and choose the desired seeds.

  4. Now plant them in the tilled soil.

We recommend spacing out the plants, as only a certain number of seeds can grow on one patch.

That's it! Now wait for the crops to mature and harvest them. Note that not all crops grow quickly; each crop has its own maturation period.

How to Make a Cultivator in Valheim

In reality, creating a cultivator is very difficult - it's the most meticulous task in farming. However, without it, you won't be able to engage in farming fully.

To make a cultivator, you'll need 5 Bronze Ingots and 5 units of Fine Wood. Obtaining these materials is not as easy as it seems at first glance.

To obtain them, you'll need to perform the following actions:

  1. First and foremost, defeat the boss Eikthyr, the Elder. Afterward, you'll be able to build a Smelter in your homestead. To fight him, go to the Black Forest, specifically to the burial grounds.
  2. To build the smelter, you'll need 5 Deer Hides and 20 Stones. Actually, finding the second material is not difficult; it's practically everywhere on the ground.
  3. Built it? Great, now start collecting: 6 Copper Ingots, 4 Stones, 4 Coal, and 10 Wood. Why all this? The forge requires these materials. Explore the world of Valheim, and you'll easily find the necessary materials.
  4. We needed the forge to melt bronze from a mixture of copper and tin. Finding Fine Wood isn't that difficult - chop down pine trees, and it will drop from them. Moreover, now no one will bother you; you've already defeated the boss.
  5. Only after finding the complete set of materials, namely 5 Bronze Ingots and 5 Fine Wood, you'll be able to make yourself a cultivator.

Where to Find Seeds in Valheim

The game features a large number of plants, and they are located in different locations. Unfortunately, you won't be able to grow some plants, but you'll have to accept that. Here's a list of plants that are available for cultivation:

  1. Carrot - look for it in the Black Forest;

  2. Turnip - usually found in the swamps;

  3. Beech - there's a chance you'll find it in the Meadows;

  4. Spruce - take cones from this tree; they are the seeds. They usually grow in the Black Forest;

  5. Pine - you can find them in the Black Forest as well, and you can also gather cones from them.

If desired, visit the Barley and Flax locations.

As you progress through the game, you'll also obtain Ancient Seeds. You can get them after killing Greydwarves. However, you won't be able to plant them; they're needed for something else entirely.

So, mastering agriculture is not such a difficult task, and anyone can do it. The higher your farming skill level, the better concoctions you'll be able to make.

The main task is to craft a cultivator; everything else will fall into place. It's important to start a chain of crops, and you'll always have an abundance of the necessary food!
