The day will come when a clash with the monster becomes inevitable. When you start exploring the depths of the sea, the monster will find you. Players are, of course, very frightened when this creature appears before them, but there is no need to be afraid prematurely. They are not so scary, and victory over the sea serpent will be achieved with certain skills. 

How to Kill the Sea Serpent

Choosing a Ship

First and foremost, your task is to build a good ship because the raft is useless in this case. 

We present to you the Karve, also known as the sailboat. It can accommodate a couple of Vikings if desired. Nevertheless, the Karve will be more mobile than the raft.

 To craft it, you will need:

1. Quality Wood - 30;

2. Resin - 20;

3. Deer Hide - 10;

4. Bronze Nails - 80;

There is a storage compartment on board the ship where you can store your items, allowing you to carry up to 4 resources. This will be useful if you want to take a trophy from the monster. 

The Drakkar is also suitable for battle. However, do not rush into battle with a dragon on this ship, as you wouldn't want to lose it in battle. The ship is very expensive, and it would be frustrating to throw away so many resources to the wind. Read about how to build it here.

What Weapons to Use Against the Sea Serpent

The Abyssal Harpoon is perfect in this case. How can you obtain it? First, gather Chitin, which you can obtain from the Krakens. 

Materials you will need to make the harpoon:

1. Quality Wood - 8;

2. Chitin - 30;

3. Leather Scrap - 3;

To effectively use the harpoon, the character needs significant stamina. Be prepared for both victory and defeat from the start. Your task is to lure the serpent away from its lair while dragging it closer to the shore. In this case, the outcome of the battle will be in your favor. 

Tips for Victory

Assistance from Your Companions

There is nothing wrong with asking for help from your game companions. The sea creature is very dangerous, making it difficult to defeat alone. We recommend hunting this beast on a cooperative server with your friends. 

Freezing the Serpent

Of course, we're not talking about "preserving" the monster, but using ice arrows or a silver hammer will significantly simplify the goal of defeating the serpent. 

You can attack the dragon both from a distance with a bow and arrows and in close combat. To do this, you need to lure the serpent as close as possible without letting it break your ship. Strike the serpent with Frostner, and it will become less agile, allowing you to defeat it faster. 

Ranged Attack

The best thing you can do against the serpent is to attack it from a distance. Do not let the enemy approach your ship. Prepare for the monster battle with the Fang of Draugr bow and ice arrows to slow down the monster. To kill the Sea Serpent, you will need flint spearheads. 

Choosing a Location

Engage in battle with the Serpent only on the shore - this will significantly slow down the enemy and give you an advantage. Use the harpoon to drag the creature into shallow water and deal with it. You will only be able to collect all the loot and rewards from the monster closer to the shore. 

The Main Reward

Focus on the fact that you need dragon scales - the most important resource from the monster. With the scales, you can make a shield that is very powerful in the world of Valheim. After defeating the Sea Serpent, immediately take the scales, but if you defeated it on the shore, the rewards won't disappear.
