In anticipation of the release of the 3.8 update in Genshin Impact, the game creators have officially introduced the characters of the upcoming 4.0 patch, scheduled for release on August 16, 2023. The first of the three new characters announced was the legendary hero Lyney.

This young man is an illusionist who performs in the arenas of the city of Cœur de la Fontaine alongside his sister Linett. The character's design is created in a style characteristic of Fontaine, rich in luxurious sleeves, bows, and accessories. Lyney, like his relatives, has light hair and bright purple eyes. One strand of his hairstyle is dyed red, indicating his element in the Eye of God. He also has a tear-shaped tattoo on his right cheek.

The primary colors of the character are red, white, and black, which also reflect his element. It is reported that, as in the prologue teaser "The Last Feast," Lyney will remove his large illusionist hat when using one of his combat skills.

Lyney controls the Pyro element, and likely uses a bow in battle, playing the role of the team's main damage dealer. Despite belonging to the human race, his constellation is called "Spotted Cat," much like his sister Linett's.
