Happy Birthday is a global quest that can be obtained after completing several previous tasks: Through the Looking Glass and Pursuit.

The Traveler decides to visit his old acquaintance and friend Caterpillar, a girl named Lanoire, who spent her entire childhood in the Fortress of Meropide and has never seen sunlight. Now she lives with her only remaining relative, Grandpa Earnshaw.

How to Start the Happy Birthday Quest

You can get the quest after talking to Grandpa Earnshaw. To unlock the mission, you need to complete the previously mentioned quests:

• Through the Looking Glass;
• Both parts of the Pursuit quest.

If the quest marker does not appear, try to fast forward time through the Paimon menu for 1-2 days. Earnshaw should stand up from the table and be in the middle of the mountain path. If he is still sitting near the house, the quest is inactive.

Talk to Earnshaw

Head to the north of Court of Fontaine, where you previously took Lanoire from the Fortress of Meropide along with Caterpillar. Grandpa Earnshaw will be waiting for you near his house on the path.

Earnshaw will share alarming news: the girl disappeared on her own birthday. He informs you that she was kidnapped by hilichurls, and he is deeply concerned about what might happen to her if she is not found soon. Embark on a search mission.

Find Lanoire

The girl hasn't gone far—she will be located near Earnshaw's house, a little to the north and closer to the elephant. The girl will be standing next to Caterpillar, who came to see her in the form of a hilichurl. Of course, Earnshaw does not know that the friend he often talks about is a monster.

Talk to Lanoire

The girl will tell you about her birthday and how happy she is to meet Caterpillar. The hilichurl promises that someday they will meet again, but for now, he leaves to avoid being seen by Earnshaw.

Caterpillar will finally tell Lanoire the story that he didn't have time to finish in the Fortress of Meropide and then disappear. At this time, the worried Earnshaw and the guards will approach the girl.

Lanoire does not understand what the problem is with Caterpillar's appearance since her grandfather constantly wonders who has been watching over her and helping her escape to the surface.

With a little help and a hint from the Traveler, the girl realizes that hilichurls are not friendly creatures, and Caterpillar assumes their appearance. Lanoire silently contemplates and does not argue with the elders, understanding what the Traveler was trying to convey.

At this point, the quest chain and Caterpillar's story will be completed. Perhaps we will learn something new about the boy's fate in upcoming updates.
