Rift is an additional location in Liyue that is slightly to the left of the current map. There have been rumors about the Rift in Genshin Impact for a long time, but there were no confirmations of its release until the recent stream.

In the developers' stream for version 2.5, they hinted that we would be able to step into the Rift in version 2.6! It is possible that the additional location will be released in parts, as was the case with Inazuma earlier. Rift History

Long ago, a massive meteorite fell to the earth, creating a depression in the ground - that's where the Rift was formed. The land was rich in ores, minerals, and jade. Later, the meteorite returned to the heavens, unable to withstand the human hatred during the Archon War.

Once, the corrupted Azhdaha (at that time, a good companion of Morax) went on an attack on the Rift, but he was defeated and sealed underground. Five hundred years ago, the Abyss infiltrated the world. To protect their people, the Lord of Geo entrusted the defense of the surrounding area to the Millileth and the Yaxa warriors. In the battle beneath the Rift, humans and the nameless Yaxa fought side by side. In the end, they were able to achieve victory over the Abyss spawn, but at the cost of their lives.

Currently, the Rift is completely sealed because workers discovered something dangerous to humanity within it (although operations to extract ore are still ongoing).
