Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is the first and only expansion to the epic role-playing game Elden Ring by FromSoftware. The release took place on June 21, 2024, and you can install it now to immerse yourself in a new and captivating storyline. The game is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam.

The expansion transports players to the Land of Shadow. Explore the ruins of ancient cities, mysterious dungeons, and battle dangerous enemies, including powerful bosses. Expand your arsenal with new deadly weapons, protective armor, and useful items. 

How to Navigate the Expansion?

Entering the Land of Shadow

Upon entering the Land of Shadow, you will find yourself at a crossroad. Several options are available:

• Belurat, Tower Settlement. Head northwest towards the ruins of the once majestic castle. There awaits the battle with the Dancing Lion, Divine Beast of Shadow Erd;
• Ensies Castle. Heading east leads to the besieged palace. Break through the defense, battle enemies, and face Rellana, Twin Moon Knight of Shadow Erd;
• North Lake. Instead of following the roads, head towards the northern lake. There, amidst the waters, lies the Ghostflame Dragon.

Your choice of path will impact the beginning of the game, the first enemies encountered, and the boss fight. 

Path to Ensies Castle via Belurat 

For beginners, Belurat is the best choice. Here awaits not only a boss battle but also numerous useful items and equipment to aid in your journey.

Travel along the main road north until you reach the intersection with the place of grace and golden cross. Don't forget to take the Fringefolk Hero's Grave region map fragment - it will help with navigation. Turn west at the intersection and follow the road until it starts heading northwest. Follow the road until you reach the ruins of the tower settlement.

Explore the castle, find hidden treasures, and avoid traps. Scrutinize the location carefully: within the ruins, weapons, armor, and other items can be found that will be useful in battle. Finally, ascend to the top of the ruins where the Dancing Lion awaits. Utilize all potions and skills to achieve victory.  

If you are new to the world of Elden Ring and dislike hardcore elements, then starting via Belurat is recommended.
