Dark Souls 3 is a computer game in the Action/RPG genre. It was released in 2016 and was well received by both gamers and critics. In addition to its captivating storyline and stunning graphics, the game features a large number of secrets and Easter eggs. Sometimes, they can only be discovered by chance. If you're curious to learn about all the secrets, it's worth checking out this review.

In general, all games in the Dark Souls series hold many secrets. During gameplay, players acquire most of the information from item descriptions. But even so, it's impossible to uncover all the secrets. Despite the popularity of Dark Souls 3, players continue to discover new mysteries and Easter eggs. It may take some time before all of them are revealed. Right now, the most intriguing secrets are available.

Vordt - not only the High Lord but also a former pyromancer

The boss in the form of a huge skeleton awaits the main character in the Catacombs of Carthus. During the battle, he doesn't use any spells. His tactics revolve around striking with his hands and sword. Additionally, he regularly summons skeletal minions to hinder the player in combat. The secret of Vordt is not immediately apparent, as the only thing he can emit is mist, which can barely be associated with pyromancy. However, there is something that reveals Vordt's familiarity with the magic of fire.

The thing is, by defeating the boss, you can obtain the spell "Black Serpent." If you read its description, you'll learn that it was Vordt who discovered the pyromancy of the Abyss. Additionally, there is a corpse with a book in the arena. Curious players can read it and find out that Vordt was indeed a fire mage before falling into the Abyss.

The Demons are still doomed to extinction

The Chosen Undead has become a serious problem for the Chaos Flame demons. But they had other problems besides that. After the destruction of the Bed of Chaos, the emergence of new creatures was excluded. The existing demons were doomed to gradual extinction. You can see evidence of this in the Ruins of Demons. Here, the hero will encounter a large number of corpses that perished without their involvement. Additionally, demons leave behind special weapons. Occasionally, their descriptions reveal information about the decline of the once mighty race.

The Invisible Crow on the temple roof has its own name

In reality, this crow has no physical form, and it can only repeat a few words. Nevertheless, it is a separate character that resides on the roof of the Firelink Shrine and engages in trading with the player.

Not everyone knows, but this character has a name. She is called Snuggly the Crow. It's very difficult to learn this information since the crow is listed as "Nestling" in the credits. Only in the official game guide can you find her full name.

Gilligan's concluded story

During the course of Dark Souls 3, the player will find numerous references to characters from previous installments. Sometimes this information can be useful, but often it's just black humor. For example, in Irithyll of the Boreal Valley, the main character will find a bonfire next to which Gilligan's corpse lies. Gilligan is a merchant known to players from Dark Souls II. There, he sold ladders that were needed to reach certain places.

Now it turns out that things didn't go well for the merchant. However, near his body, you can find the "Stretch Out" gesture, imitating Gilligan's lying pose. Moreover, there are numerous ladders lying around the merchant. Apparently, he wasn't able to sell all of his stock.

Aldrich earned his nickname for a reason

Aldrich is one of the bosses in the game. He is referred to as the Devourer of Gods. However, besides them, other characters became victims of Aldrich. During the boss fight, he uses the Lifehunt Scythe. By the way, later on, it can be exchanged for the Soul of the Devourer of Gods.

Here's an interesting fact that only fans of the first part might notice. The thing is, the owner of this Scythe was Priscilla the Crossbreed. So it's quite possible that Aldrich dealt with her and took possession of the Scythe. On the other hand, it's not a real weapon. Therefore, it's likely an attempt to recreate what was seen in a dream.

Defeating bosses with dung

Every boss battle in Dark Souls 3 is a true challenge. You have to use all your skills to emerge victorious. However, experienced players have long discovered the weak spots of bosses and actively exploit them to their advantage. Such knowledge can significantly simplify the fight.

For example, you can poison the enemy with throwable items. The most unusual approach is using Dung Pies. This unpleasant substance is capable of poisoning both the hero and the opponent. However, the player can neutralize this effect, while many bosses are devoid of such an ability. This strategy is most effective in battles against Father Ariandel and the Old Demon King. It's an excellent way not only to defeat the enemy but also to humiliate them.

Mimic robbery

You can find many interesting things by looting a Mimic, but it can be quite challenging. The enemy is fast, unpredictable, and capable of long-range attacks. This makes defeating it almost an impossible task. However, there is a way to obtain the Mimic's treasures without engaging in combat.

To do this, you need to throw an Undead Hunter Charm at it. The Mimic will fall asleep, and the chest will open. Now you can take whatever you like without any rush. The enemy won't wake up unless you attack it.

Judge Gundyr was meant to bring light to the world

Judge Gundyr is the first boss of the game. Of course, defeating him is relatively easy. However, after the victory, you can learn many interesting things. The item descriptions state that Gundyr was supposed to ignite the Flame. However, he didn't have the chance to do so, and as a punishment, he must wait until someone else attempts to fulfill his mission.

All this time spent waiting, Gundyr was influenced by the Abyss. Perhaps, in an alternate reality, he would have become the main hero and slain the Lord of Cinder. But his story was destined to end differently.

Crystal sages are twins and connoisseurs of crystal sorcery

In the areas of the Road of Sacrifices and the Grand Archives, there are two bosses who use similar spells in battle and even wear nearly identical attire. Moreover, they were former followers of Logan, the Big Hat, from Dark Souls. It's highly likely that these bosses are twins. This speculation is supported by the description of the Sage's Big Hat.

However, it's not entirely clear why the followers of a benevolent sorcerer became allies of the forces of evil. One theory suggests that they abused the power of crystal sorcery. After all, even the description of the Crystal Staff states that the orbs are capable of subjugating the will of the wielder. Another interesting fact: if you reverse the mutterings of the Sages, it forms the phrase "Release me."

Hardcore mode

All games in the Dark Souls series are considered very challenging by many players. There's no room for mistakes, and the hero's death is a common occurrence. However, even that may not be enough for true hardcore players.

Specifically for them, there is a way to significantly increase the difficulty of the game. Simply equip the Calamity Ring. This item causes the hero to take double damage from all sources. And with the right combination of the ring with other items, it's possible for the player to be defeated with a single blow.
