Chivalry 2 has attracted the attention of many fans of medieval battles. After all, it's here that you can engage in sword fights with other players. And not just sword fights. Of course, the weapon selection in Chivalry 2 is not extensive, but there are always interesting options. However, before making a decision about your armament, it is important to familiarize yourself with the general classification.

What weapon classes are there in Chivalry 2

All weapons in the game are divided into the following classes:

  • One-Handed. An excellent choice. It has the advantage of speed in delivering strikes during battles. However, the damage is not very high. One-handed weapons are recommended to be used as a backup option.
  • Two-Handed. It is great for defending against multiple enemies. The game features two-handed swords, axes, and hammers. They are heavy weapons but deal significant damage. In one-on-one combat, you should strike when the enemy is vulnerable. Two-handed weapons are effective for finishing off weakened opponents.
  • Ranged. For medieval snipers, bows are an excellent option. They deal a significant amount of damage when shooting in the head. Crossbows, on the other hand, can penetrate even heavy armor. However, they have a much longer reload time.
  • Thrown Weapons. It is better to use them as additional weapons before initiating an attack or during retreat. It is important to quickly learn to aim for the head, and before that, throw them into a group of enemies.

It's worth noting that axes are slower than swords but faster than polearm weapons. However, the slower the weapon, the more damage it inflicts with a single strike, and vice versa.

All weapon classes and their characteristics

Experienced players recommend using the following types of weapons:

  • Messer. Perhaps the best two-handed sword in Chivalry 2. It has a good attack radius, fast strike delivery, and high damage. It is effective even against opponents in heavy armor.
  • Maul. Speed is not a concern with this two-handed weapon. However, it does not need speed when delivering precise strikes. The maul inflicts tremendous damage. It can penetrate an opponent's shield or disarm them. If lucky, you can kill an enemy with a single strike, especially if they are injured or wearing light armor.
  • Halberd. It is a versatile two-handed polearm weapon that is recommended for organized combat. The halberd is good for thrusting and slashing, making it useful in various situations. With this weapon, it is much easier to escape from enemy encirclement.
  • Crossbow. It is the best choice among all ranged weapons. It can penetrate heavy armor and significantly thin out enemy ranks before they get close. However, it should only be used from ambush. The crossbow has a long reload time and is completely useless in open combat. If there is no choice, you can place a stationary shield in front of you and use it as cover.
  • Short Sword. It is a one-handed weapon suitable for one-on-one combat with an enemy. However, it is not advisable to engage in a crowd of enemies with it. With a short sword, you will quickly perish. It has low damage but a high strike delivery speed. While the enemy is preparing to strike with their weapon, you can quickly deliver several strikes and dodge to the side.
