One of the most famous racing GTs at the time was the 250 GT Berlinetta SWB with a short wheelbase of 2400 mm. 176 units were built using steel and aluminum in road ("Lusso") and racing trim. The engine power ranged from 240 hp (177 kW) to 280 hp (206 kW). The 250 GT Berlinetta SWB was developed by experienced racers such as Giotto Bizzarrini, Carlo Chiti and the young Mauro Forghieri, who also created the 250 GTO. Disc brakes were first installed on Ferrari GT racing cars, and the combination of low weight, high power and balanced suspension made this car very competitive.
