27 dec 2020 at 10:58

STALKER 2 is one of the most anticipated shooters of 2021. The cult game was announced 10 years ago, but something went wrong with the development team. The game was originally planned for release in 2012, but the team fell apart, and work on the project was put on hold.

When will STALKER 2 be released?

Unfortunately, the exact release date of STALKER 2 is still unknown. Many sources claim that it will happen no later than 2021. Fortunately, the wait won't be long, considering the ten-year waiting period... Let's hope that the new installment of STALKER will ultimately live up to the long years of anticipation!

Plot and Setting of STALKER 2

Zakhar Bocharov, one of the developers, confirmed that the plot of STALKER 2 will continue in the same Zone of Alienation universe. The events take place in the area near Chernobyl, which became irradiated and emerged as a result of a powerful nuclear impact.

All living things ceased to be alive, and people and animals began an irreversible mutation process. But the main feature of the game remains anomalies, which literally defy all laws of physics.

They can take various forms, leave distinct traces, and even cause electrical discharges. In any case, all of this is visible and available in the STALKER 2 trailer.

Gameplay of STALKER 2

No significant gameplay details were shown in the trailer. However, in one of the interviews, Zakhar Bocharov said the following:

We are finally creating what we wanted to do from the very beginning.

It's obvious that the developers are serious about it. We can only speculate that the gameplay of STALKER 2 will be similar to the old one: survival, fighting anomalies, weapon modification, and much more. One thing we know for sure is that the open world will be significantly improved. Bocharov claims:

The game world will exist and evolve without players' involvement in it.
